One problem that we encountered when building the briefcase computer is the I/O. The I/O refers to the set of various inputs that you need to be accessible when using a computer. The I/O includes the USB ports, audio jacks, and all of the other various things needed to interface with the computer. A normal computer case would have from I/O built in (usually at the top front of the case) and a slot in the back so that the rear I/O on the motherboard could be used, but because in our design we don’t have access to the back of the motherboard we need find some other place to put the I/O. Our solution is to solder a small panel of the most necessary ports (2 USB 2.0 Ports, a Headphone and microphone port, and an Ethernet port) along with a few other things such as a power button and a power LED.
