On Tuesday 9/22/15 our Knights middle school soccer team took on Geneva. Both teams seemed evenly matched at the start, but it did not end up that way. At the beginning of the game both teams traded possessions with Onaje, an eighth grade defensive enforcer, enforced. He took down one kid after the other stopping the ball anyway possible. Thanks to that Reggi an eighth grade offensive captain marched down the field all alone and scored easily. The other team did have a couple chances as a few got in the box but no one seemed to be able to stop Nissim an eighth grade goalie. Thanks to Nissim the Knights had a few more chances with shots on goal but could not come out with anything. The first ended with a few more trades of possessions.
With the score of 1-0 Knights at half Peter gave a pep talk and we the Knights were hyped. So hype that Reggi right away scored two goals easily making the other team’s defense look like nothing. The Knights scored 2 more goals after Reggi completed his hat trick. Nissim racked up saves until one play the other team’s star player who also earlier had slapped away one of the Knights players hand scored a goal with Nissim diving to try to save it. That is how the game ended with a final score of 5-1 Knights.
We interviewed Reggi the player who had a hat trick in the game.
Me: What was your mindset during the game?
Reggie: I had a positive mind set because we have a mix of experienced players and youth layers which brought a lot of spirit and chemistry to the team.
Then we interviewed Nissim the goalie.
Me: How does it feel getting thirteen saves?
Nissim: I don’t know, you just play the game and I tried my best and Geneva walked out not happy.
Me: Does it bring you down that you got scored on?
Nissim: Yeah I guess but it is really about the team and the game.
The Knights go onto their third game next game vs. VCS, a team that has struggled in the past. The game is at Pier 40 at 4:00 PM if you would like to come to the game.
