On October 22, 2012 through October 31, hurricane Sandy hit. It was classified as the eighteenth named storm. It was also the tenth hurricane and the second major hurricane of the year. Sandy was a category 3 storm at its peak of intensity when it made landfall in Cuba. During the storm there were many black outs. All of the phone companies were sending flash flood warnings on your phone every single second. It was hailing everywhere.

Where were you during hurricane Sandy? We interviewed the store on flatbush. Their name is Oj’s. They were still in business during hurricane Sandy. They had customers too. We talked to the store manager Gabriel. He said he had no idea it was happening because he was in his apartment at the time. His apartment is in between two other buildings. It blocks all the sunlight. A majority of the customers who were shopping did not receive the flash flood warnings. Flash flood warnings sent to the world through the internet. If you’re in a place where you don’t have the internet, you don’t get the message. As soon as you get internet it comes straight to you, even if its the next day. Oj’s does not have internet. There are other stores who were in the same position.

Hurricane Sandy did not have more of a effect than hurricane Irene. The truth is that people from the city think hurricane Sandy was more powerful than hurricane Irene because it had more of an effect in the city. They both did the same amount of damage. In the Far- Rockaways they had a tidal wave because of hurricane Sandy. Fish were swimming in the streets. On the other hand hurricane Irene hit more in the country. The winds of hurricane Irene could pick up around 500 pounds. Can you imagine going outside and being flown into the air?
