This Alfred Hitchcock classic is considered by the British Film Institute to be the best movie ever made. This movie is Hitchcock’s classic mystery theme, with a slight twist. Using a slight element of the supernatural to further the plot, Hitchcock created a true masterpiece.

Starring James Stewart as John Ferguson, a retired detective, plagued with acrophobia, giving him vertigo, which is actually the reason for his retirement. He is called out of retirement by an old college friend, Gavin Elster, who hires him to follow his wife, Madeline, played by Kim Novak, who he believes may be in grave danger.

Surprisingly enough, though acclaimed by all critics, this movie did not win an Oscar, though it was nominated for two. However, it has won six other awards, including the 1996 NYFCC Award for most distinguished re-issue.

All in all, this movie is a true masterpiece, an incredible film through and through, and I recommend this movie to any fans of mystery movies, but be forewarned, this is again an old movie, and the plot moves more slowly than in a newer film. Five swords up.
