Due Monday:
-Warriors summer writing. Br prepared to review the main ideas of the book. Be prepared to talk about or read parts of the book that you wrote about.
-Sign up for a book talk slot (on white board)
-Book talk notes are due on Tuesday. Book talks start on Tuesday, too.

*I am giving you a light load of weekend homework. Don’t get too used to that. We will start like this but prepare for more work increasingly throughout the year. “-)

Due Thursday:

• Compose a full page letter to me (one page, preferably hand written).  Describe yourself in this letter.  Tell me about your hobbies, interests, goals, family or anything else that you would like me to know about you as we start a new year together.  You may write more than one page if you so desire.

Due Monday 9/14:

• Please bring in all of your Warriors Don’t Cry summer writing AND your book.

**Reminder:

This Friday at 12:30 we will walk with the rest of the school to Washington Square Park where we will enjoy a 9/11 concert in remembrance of the people who died that day.  Please wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate outdoor clothes.

Dear Momii’s New Core Students,

Welcome to the Eighth Grade!

I am thrilled to start this new year with you. I hope you’ve all had fantastic summer vacations.  Even though it may be hard to return back to school and get back into the swing of things, please know that this will be an exciting, creative, fun and challenging year for you all.

I also look forward to meeting with you and your families on the first day of school during our 15 minute advisory meetings.  Your parents should get an email from me shortly to remind them about signing up for a meeting slot on that day.
