This week, a message from the Parents Association’s Asian-American Families Affinity Group in honor of Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, and then a few reminders from me.
From the Parents Association’s Asian American Families Affinity Group:
To the LREI community,
These past weeks have certainly been historic. We have witnessed the world treat Asians with fear and contempt. Members of our community have felt it directly. Then the virus moved across the globe and it was no longer confined to that part of the world. But still, the stigma persisted. This May, Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, we would like to change the narrative and highlight Asian-American heroes that represent the most inspirational in our communities.
We ask that your child complete the template (link below). In it, please include a picture of the person you would like to submit (if possible) and a few words about why they inspire you. These Asian-American heroes need not be famous!
Let us remember that we are fighting against this virus, not the cultures that have been associated with it.
Template: (print or edit directly) and please email filled up form to firstname.lastname@example.org.

- Mark your calendars for the 2020 College Panel, a time for lower and middle school families to hear about LREI’s college guidance process from members of the senior class and from Carey Socol, Co-Director of College Guidance. This conversation will not focus on the more specific questions that tend to be on the minds of high school families. This link will take you to a list of the Class of 2020’s college/university acceptances and matriculation decisions.
