What to Review for the Test on Wednesday, December 19th!

The test will cover:

1.    Finding the percent of a whole for tax, tip, shipping, etc.

o    Sherezada bought 3 pizzas for the robotics teams.  Each pizza was $8.75 plus 6% tax.  She paid with a $50.00 bill, how much change did she get back?

o    Margaret and 3 friends went to dinner.  The bill was $428.00.  If the tax is 7½% and they left an 18% tip, what was the total cost of the dinner?

o    Margaret bought a new laptop.  The cost of the laptop was $2199.00.  The tax was 6% and she paid 11% for shipping.  What was her total cost for the laptop?

2.    Finding the whole using the percent and the tax, shipping, tip, etc.

•    138 students represented the Big Purple School in the Macy’s parade.  If this number represents 22% of all the students at the Big Purple School, how many students attend the Big Purple School?

•    Margaret had Indian food for dinner last night with friends.  She gave the waiter a 16% tip of $28.00.  What was the original cost of the bill?

•    Margaret bought a Wii game system and some accessories.  The 8  ¾% tax was $41.58.  What was the original price of the things she bought?

3.    All operations with fractions and decimals

4.    Story problems involving fractions, decimals and percents

5.    Decimal, fraction, percent conversions

6.    Part/Whole relationships – there are at least two ways to do all these problems.

•    What is 8% of 89?
•    91 is 29% of what number?
•    15 is what percent of 60?
•    What number is 80% of 275?
•    What percent of 85 is 17?
