DOROT Senior Buddies Community Service Project

Next Tuesday, November 12 we will be meeting with our senior buddies in the library to place some icebreaker games and get to know each other.
Please bring an artifact or picture or object that is meaningful to you to talk about with your buddy.
Come to the library at 1:45. Your teachers know you are excused. Please check in with them about any work you may miss.

This community service project to build intergenerational relationships is run by Amanda and Jennifer. We will be hosting monthly activity periods with senior citizen volunteers from the DOROT organization. While some of the activities will be here at school, we may also go out of the building for a snack, to visit a nearby gallery or to take a walk.

Students will miss class from 1:45 to 3:00 on the six designated Tuesdays for the program.

The dates are:

  • 11/12
  • 12/10
  • 1/14
  • 2/11
  • 4/14
  • 5/12

Student will be responsible for planning ahead and getting the work they missed from the classes. Amanda and Jennifer will email all 5th and 6th grade teachers to remind them that the students will miss class before each meeting time. We are excited that your child has decided to participate, and we hope you are too. We encourage you to ask them to share their experiences at home.
