6th Grade Drama
2nd and 3rd Quarter
Teacher: Joanne Magee (jmagee@lrei.org) Ext. 359
Students meet once a week during the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Students will come to the drama class with original work they have produced in Core. They continue to develop the work while developing their drama skills in preparing for the Medieval Pageant. In addition to working on the scripts, learning lines and performing, we play games, carry out routine warm ups and enjoy a variety of improvisation exercises as part of this class.
Skills are based on using the voice and body as a tool while working as an individual and as an ensemble member. Students will work on character development, improvisation, imagination, performance, and evaluation and reflection. Students will develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of the subject.
Homework: students may be expected to complete outstanding work from class in order to stay on the same page as their group during a project. Also students will be expected to carry out research, learn lines and create scenes throughout the year.
Grading is based on effort and fulfilling criteria during class performances. Process, as well as performance, is assessed in this class.
