Over the course of developing Circe Magazine, we’ve designed a functioning website, collected and curated content and are now in the beginning stages of building and managing a social media presence. The first leg of our project has been building our site. We’ve used our own (mostly Isabelle’s) as well as our friends’ photography to decorate the platform. We’ve tried to establish color schemes and worked with shape and size to create something interesting to look at. We found interesting magazines and used them to create collages. One of our collages is featured at the home page of our online publication and has become our sort of mascot. Now that the website is more or less completed, we’ve focused our attention on adding content to the website. So far we have 16 posts and are working every day on creating our own work to post and reaching out to other creators to feature their art. We’ve also been working on our social media. We’re currently operating a tumblr and an instagram. We’re currently trying to get daily posts out and are working on attracting more online attention.

TRIMESTER 1 Proposal:

Please write a description of the project you are proposing. Why do you want to take this on, and what do you hope to learn?

We would like to continue working on making an art and literary magazine called Circe. It will be primarily online. We began working on this magazine last year and already have article ideas and the beginnings of a website. By taking this on, we hope to learn about creating and managing a website, writing articles about art and artists, and journalism. The site will be an incentive to consume more art, music, and writing as well as to produce more of our own.

What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project?

We hope to create a functioning online platform where student, local, and international artists are able to share their work. Some inspirations of ours include Rookie, the Adroit Journal and POETRY magazine. We will demonstrate our successful completion when we have a site that shows art and literary work as well as articles.

When do you plan on meeting?
Every Monday Lunch
