My workshop went really well.  All the kids loved the bracelets and especially the candy!  We listened to music and it was a really relaxed environment.  The teachers who supervised our workshop also loved making the bracelets.  It also pleased them that we were playing appropriate music that was from their era…

On friday Ava, Cellie and I went to interview Mary Cleaver.  She told us about her inspiration for serving organic food and all the pros/cons of using organic food.  She also told us a lot about where she gets her food and how she has to be extra careful. -Sophia 

On thursday Ava and I met up with Mary Cleaver at the Brecht Forum on West St. between Bank St. and Bethune St.  At the Brecht Forum Mary Cleaver was catering for an event.  It was a meeting of some sort where the film “Our Daily Bread” was shown.  We helped set up all of the food and chairs and then we watched the movie.  The movie was just basic farms and slaughterhouses in Europe.  It was filmed in an artistic way that gave you your own opinion.  It was really interesting because it was set in Europe instead of America and because of how benign it is over there compared to the U.S.  At the end everyone discussed their feelings on this film(I swear, each and every person said the word benign ten times…).-Sophia 

On wednesday Ama, Ava and I met up with Mary Cleaver at the green market.  We walked through the market as she explained to us how she likes to only use local produce, which farms she gets it from and why.  She also showed us a company which collects local garbage to make compost.  We helped carry some of the produce from the market to the kitchen.  While at the kitchen we cleaned potatoes and got to meet the staff of “The Green Table” at Chelsea Market.-Sophia 

Last monday, Ama, Ava, Cellie and I visited the Cleaver Company.  Mary Cleaver, the owner of the cleaver company, talked to us about organic and sustainable food.  She told us about many informative books and informative movies.  While meeting with Mary, we planned to go to the greenmarket on the 26th with her to buy food for a screening we are helping out with on the 27th.  The screening is of a movie called “Our Daily Bread” about industrial food production and high-tech farming.  I look forward to helping Mary Cleaver with this event. -Sophia 

Ava and I contacted the organization to confirm what we were doing.  Ava, Cellie, Ama and I are helping with research on monday at 4:00 and the next week we are going to be toured around the green market.  Also, on the 27th we are going to help with an event(a screening as I am told).-Sophia 

Cellie, Ava and I called the restaurant and they said they would call us back with information about what we could be suited for (where we could work).-Sophia
