Choosing to Participate:
A Social Justice Service Project on Sustainability

We spent 1 hour teaching 1 sixth grader  and 4 fifth graders how to make the classrooms in our school greener. I worked with Taylor, Maya and Hannah R

Today I had an interview at the Center For Architecture with Maya, Niles, Manny, Robbie, and Ella. We had an interview with the coordinator Grace Huang. We spent an hour and fifteen minutes asking her questions and listening to her answers.

Our group (Maya, Ella and I) spent a couple minutes going over the date of the interview. We ended up coming with a date of Friday, April 11th at about 3:30 PM.

Spent about 10 minutes in Phil’s Office with Robbie, Taylor, and Nicholas talking about why Phil should allow the students to carry water bottles with us as long as they get recycling cans in the hall ways.

On Saturday, March 8th I spent two and a half hours at the Center For Architecture Foundation. I spent those two and a half hours helping children construct buildings from newspaper and glue. Then doing the same thing except with many materials and they could only use the “area of land” that was given to them.

During this activity, I spent about 3 hours with Niles, Ella, Maya (P), Manny and Jack Gregory. In those 3 hours we spent the time helping the children and their parents construct a environment and energy effecient model of a building. We also took photos of the model buildings (which are saved onto the server).
