Dear 8th Graders,
I had an awesome time at the Day Of Learning. You guys picked some really fun activities and I think this project you are doing is brilliant and creative. I can definately tell you spent a long time on this. The 8th graders were calm, and produced some great knowledge into all of us. (The 5th, 6th, and 7th graders)
Thank you so much for doing this and I learnded a lot!

I feel that I have learned more today about sustainability because I don’t think I even knew what sustainability meant even though the teachers explained it to us many times, in advisory. I think that today helped me understand what it really meant for the videos and the activity’s. The workshop I participated in was Build-A-Farm, and Save The Trees. These were very helpful in contributing to my knowledge about sustainability. I think this day was a great idea and I hope we have this next year.
April 30th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I had a lot of fun in the activities they were very creative. But for the bento boxes if that is done again I think it should be a double period because we didn’t have a lot of time.
April 30th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
I had so much fun at the day of learning. The activities were very creative in a good way. I learned a lot about sustainability. And how to make natural makeup.
April 30th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
i thought the day of learning was really fun i had the bento boxs and the there trash our tresures. i really loved the there trash our treasures but i didnt really get how the bento boxs applied to the enviroment. i think it would be fun next year to make jewelrly out of bottle caps and other stuff like that.
April 30th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
I thought that making a model of a room and making it greener help me to realize that there are lots of ways to make a room greener. I think that it was cool to

i thought that that the day of learning was a lot of fun! I did sweet sustainabill
April 30th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
8th graders,
You did an excellent job on these workshops! I participated in natural beauty, and I loved the creative makeup/lotion ideas. The 8th graders were organized and never looked, over stressed – which I know is hard to do when everyone is asking questions. I liked how we talked in the end, on what products to use and not to use, I could definitely tell that you guys studied and knew the material very well! I had fun, and I got to realize how one simply step could help the environment, like using the right kind of face wash! ☺

Dear 8th graders,
Today I learned a lot about how our school community can make a difference.
I learned in my first workshop( Make trees, save the planet) that recycling can make a difference with paper, plastic, glass ect. I also learned in my second activity(Malaria jeopardy)that the disease Malaria comes from Mosquitos and is a very weird and disease spreading insect.I thought the 8th grade did a really hard working great job. They planned the groups out in a organized way so we could have fun,and learn about new problems in the world. Next time I think there should be at least 1 or 2 more activities. A lot of the 8th graders were kind about sharing information with us. My favorite part of the day was watching the video in the morning it was really funny. I used my interesting facts of nature to help guild me through the day. I was satisfied with this excellent day so
CONGRATULATION
On the sustainability project
Sincerely… Ally

Good Job you guys!

I really liked the whole sustainability event today. First of all, I never really knew what sustainability meant, and now I know what it means and much more. The two activities that I was in were Someone’s Trash, Another Persons Treasures and The Green Gingerbread House. Both were very fun, inspiring, and interesting. They both helped me to think about sustainability and what we can do to preserve the world. Lilly and Jack, I loved making an awesome Pinnochio mask out of trash, I really liked using various used materials to make a piece of art. Manny, Cole, Robbie, and Quinn, I really liked eating, I mean making a gingerbread green house. It was a fun experience that taught me more about how to make and eco-friendly environment, even in your own home. I also liked when we watched videos because they were a funny and easy way to get the whole sustainability idea out to everyone. Lastly, I really liked the speakers that came in. They taught me about really interesting and scary things. Because of today, from now on, I’m going to try to reduce, reuse, and recycle a lot more. Great job 8th Graders!
April 30th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I liked the day of learning and thought that it was very interesting and informative about sustainability and how to be green. The activities that I did were really fun, making gingerbread houses and crafts out of trash. Learning more about being how to be eco-friendly and telling us ways of how we could help made me think more about how much energy I use and how to conserve it. I thought that the eighth graders did a really good job putting this together, and I enjoyed it lots.
April 30th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Dear Eighth Graders,
I enjoyed the fun workshops. I did not see how the bento box relates to the sustainability concept. But overall I enjoyed what you put together. I learnt a lot. How reusing and recycling can make a difference. I liked how you all made this whole learning fun and creative.
April 30th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Dear 8th graders,
I had a lot of fun at the day of learning.
The workshop I went to was about how to make a solar car.
I liked this workshop a lot and thought that I learned a lot about sustainability and both types of solar energy.
I also liked the clips you showed us as well as the different oppinions that the speakers gave about sustainability.
thanks

May 1st, 2008 at 8:42 am

Dear 8th Graders,
I had a really good time at the sustainability workshops. I really liked the workshop where we got to make the gingerbread homes because We got to eat candy, but we also got to learn about the wonderful world of eco-friendly homes. I think that the 8th graders did a great job teaching and I can’t wait until next year.

The day of learning was so much fun, I learned a lot about sustainability. Before the day, I just thought this was about recycling and reusing because it helped, but now I see how important it is. I learned a lot about specific issues too, like how cosmetic companies are using lead in lipstick and are lying to their customers, and I really like knowing that I can make my own products. My workshop was so much fun, and the 8th graders were really calm, and good hosts. The whole day was really interesting and I had so much fun learning about these issues.
May 1st, 2008 at 8:49 am
Dear 8th Graders,
I enjoyed making my bento box, I also learned that malaria is a very deadly disease. I want to pitch in so i’ll make sure i’ll recycle. I’ll also check out the malaria website. It was really interesting to learn about that stuff.
I had alot of fun!!
Thanks
May 1st, 2008 at 8:49 am
The day was very educational. I had a great time making fruit salad and creating art out of garbage. There could have been a little more info in the workshops. The videos were very cool and the talkers you guys got were really good. I have actually ate at “Apple wood”. Yous guys did a wonderful job and next year will be great but not as good as this year.
May 1st, 2008 at 8:50 am
Homework. Write the 8th graders a letter to thank them.
Dear 8th graders,
yesterday was a fun and helpful day. I understand very well now why its called the day of learning. I learned a lot of why we need to help the environment, and how to help. One of my activities that I did was the bento box. I liked making a bento box because you can use trash and recycled things to make a beauty. I thought it was also very cool how you just went up to a random person on the street and asked what sustainability. I especially liked how you went to the bleecker deli and bought something then brought out your camera and asked Arti (the guy that works at the deli) if he knew what sustainability was. We all knew that he would have no idea. Thanks for helping us learn more about the environment.
Sincerely,
Maurice (Lynne’s 6th)

Dear 8th graders,
I had a exceptional time at the day of learning. I do think that the students could have been more knowlagable towards their subjects. Ciao
May 1st, 2008 at 8:55 am
Dear 8th grade,
I really enjoyed making a solar powered car. But I think it could have been more organized. I learned a lot about passive and active solar panels I did not know before. It would have been more fun if we could have raced them or something. I also liked the kit and I thought it was a simple way to learn about solar energy.

I thought it was very fun. I wish it was longer. I think you should have more choices next time. The solar energy cars where so cool.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:18 am
Dear 8th graders,
I realy enjoyed learning about solar powered cars and solar energy in general. I started the day not knowing what sustainability was, and now I know a lot about it.
Thanks!

I had alot of fun on the 8th grade day of learning. First I did malaria jeopardy and learned alot about malaria, what it does, and who it affects. Then I did green house for the ginger bread man and I learned what goes into an efficient and sustainable home.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:33 am
Dear 8th Graders,
I think that the day of learning was a sucess. My workshops were Malaria Jepordy and Ginger Bread house for the Enoviroment thingy. I think that I didnt have enought time for the Ginger Bread house so next year maybe the day of learning could be hour long courses. The Malaria Jepordy couldnt have been better though. it was perfect time and very fun. Maybe next year to learn more we could have the whole day be the day of learning so people ca learn much more about the enviroment.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:37 am
The 8th grade day of learning was very fun. I really injoyed learning about malaria jeopardy I learned that it kills the most people but its very easy to cure. Over all i think that the learning day was a great experince.

The day of learning for me was a pretty fun day, although I have to say there were some things that could have been improved on. My first 30 minute activity was Build-a-Farm, which I didn’t put as my first or 2nd choice but I got anyways. It was a pretty fun activity, however for next time I think it would be more enjoyable to do in 3-D. My second activity was making a Bento Box. That was not as fun, as my student instructors seemed a little confused on the topic. They just told us, “Make a Bento Box,” with no further history or instructions on the topic. Those are some things that next years 8th grade could improve on, but overall the Day of Learning was fun.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:38 am
My workshop was the little green school house. I learned that there are lots of ways to make a room greener. I think that the 8th graders woking on the workshop could explain a little more on how to make a model of a room and how to make the items in the room. I think that for next year you should make the whole day the day of learning.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:40 am
I enjoyed the day of learning but I have some sugestions for the 8th graders. First for the group making organic foods, you might want to start by cutting up less food. There was a lot of waste and that could have gone to someone who needed it. For their trash our treasrue they could have started clean up earlier. Over all I enjoyed it alot.
May 1st, 2008 at 11:47 am
My thoughts on the sustainability change is that it will take a lot of work to change, but I think it’s going to work. And soon, we are going to have a great environment. The workshops were very fun. They gave simple instructions, but the hosts could of been a little bit more specific. I liked learning about things that help the environment in the creative way that I did. The hosts were awesome, but I think they could of done a little better, and for future 8th graders, I think they can be specific on the instructions given. My favorite part of the day was making art out of trash because it was really fun! Overall, I think they did great!
May 1st, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Dear 8th graders,
I had a great time at sustainability day i had Green House For the Gingerbread man and Food, Food Glorious food. My favorite was the gingerbread house, i thought that you guys did a great job and the candy was delicious. I think it would be cool if you mixed up the amount of boys and girls though(there were only 2 girls) and otherwise, it was fun. Food glorious food was interesting and the strawberries were good. It was interesting to learn about how the food the we usually eat had so many chemicals and it made me think about the fruit i eat every day and where they come from. i liked the workshop and think you guys did an amazing job.
May 1st, 2008 at 5:06 pm
I have to say that the day of learning was deffinitly a day that the 8th graders should be very proud of. Every thing seemed thourely planned and I personaly had a lot of fun and I am pretty sure that a lot of other people agree with me. Overall, I think the 8th graders worked very hard on this and it definitly shows.
May 1st, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I think the day went very well and the eighth graders did a wonderful job. My favorite part of the day was making a collage with recycled materials. This made me realize all the many things you can do with recyclables. Lili T, Sophie, Hannah, Lilly D, Sam and Jack were awesome hosts. They explained things clearly, which made me more aware of sustainability issues. I learned that organic food supports local farmer and helps the environment because the food isn’t shipped by boat or plane, which adds to global warming. I am looking forward to having my family shop at the Union Square farmer’s market.
GREAT JOB 8TH GRADE!
May 2nd, 2008 at 4:05 pm
I think that the Day of Learning went really well. I had Malaria Jeopardy and other peoples trash, our treasures. I think that the 8th graders in both workshops did a good job explaining what to do. In the trash/treasures thing the 8th graders really helped, and made me feel comfortable. In Malaria jeopardy, I had a lot of fun but the 8th graders went a little off topic and joked around a lot. I think that next year the 8th grade should improve on not joking around and staying on topic. Overall, it was really fun and I learned a lot.
May 2nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Dear 8th graders,
I enjoyed the day of learning! I did the sweet sustainable jewelry and we made star burst wrapper bracelet or ring. I thought the folding was confusing and the putting the folded wrappers together but the 8th graders helped me a lot. Now I know that when I eat star burst or gum I know to save the wrapper to make a colorful bracelet or ring. When you end off the jewelry it was hard so I had some help. This really helped me when I eat candy, and now I will try not to throw out my candy wrappers! You guys did a GREAT job!
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:16 pm
I thought that the day of learning was an awesom way to learn about sustainability i had an amazing time at malaria jeopardy because it was fun and i got to learn i also really enjoyed the ginger bread houses. because you got to work in a group and learn about making a sustainable house as well as eating candy i had a great time. something i would have changed would have been making the day of learning the Whole DAY because you could do alot of differant activities and be able to do more and longer activities so we have more time to work and be able to understand.
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Thank you sooo much eight graders that was a very exciting and fun class to partcipate in (natural beauties). but most importantly not only the class was extreemly fun I also leaned alot and i will always remember it. i really have no critical comments because the eight graders were the first to ever do this project, and they inspired us well for next year.
May 4th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
I think that the day of learning was a lot of fun. For the first 30 minutes, I was in the glorious food workshop. I learned a lot about why we should buy local food and not food that is from a place that is far away. For my other 30 minutes, I had Peoples trash, our treasures. I thought that it went well because the 2 8th graders always offered help and ideas if people needed help. The only thing I would change is for the workshops to be longer because I would have wanted more time to work on my project in peoples trash, our treasures. Other wise, I think that it was a lot of fun.
May 4th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
My thoughts on sustainability didn’t change at all. While I did have a fun time building solar powered cars, I couldn’t help but feel that I was just building a toy. I think that for future sustainability projects that the 8th graders should have the entire event planned out as close to perfect as it can be so everyone in the activity leaves the room knowing more than they did when they came in. I do think that the 8th graders made the activities very fun though.
May 4th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I really enjoyed Sustainability Day. I was in Natural Beauties, and it was fun to make beauty products out of natural ingredients like fruit and oats and other kinds of food. That was definitely my favorite part of the day.
The eighth graders did a great job. The two who hosted Natural Beauties helped us make the products and they had a lot of information about all the bad things that go into beauty products that many people use today. I will be on the lookout for these bad ingredients, and I plan to let others know about the bad ingredients some make-up brands.
I also agree with Sadie–the eighth graders were very good role models on what to expect next year, when we host the project, so thank you 8th grade and good job!
May 4th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
i really enjoyed the day of learning. i liked everything from the assemblys to the workshops. i especially liked making my own green room in one of the workshops. i hope that next year you will have the same workshops and more. great job eighth grade.
May 4th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Dear 8th graders,
I really enjoyed the day of learning. I learned a lot about sustainability. My workshop was jewlry, which was pretty cool beause I’ve never heard of candy rapper braclets. You guys should be really proud of all the hard work you did and especially the reasults. You guys are awesome. Great job 8th grade!
May 6th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
The Day of Learning was really fun! Even though in the solar shop workshop some of the cars didn’t work the 8th graders who taught were really detailed in explaining about passive and active solar energy and stuff like that. Thanks 8th grade!!!!!!!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 2:59 pm
The day of learning was amazing, and I could tell you really put a lot of work into it. The Presentations were funny and educational. In my workshop Malaria Jepordy, I learned a lot about bodies health, and how nets can make a big difference. My work shop Green House for Gingerbread man, made me think about how the smallest things can go to a big change. Great job with all of the work research and effort you put in!
May 6th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
I think the day went very well and the eighth graders did a terrific job. My favorite part of the day was designing a farm. The hosts for that were Jimmy,Deon and some other person who I don’t know their name. They explained things very clearly, and showed the difference in between “good” and “bad” farms. I learned that many farms today are run by big factories who abuse the animals and feed them unhealthy things, such as antibiotics. It made me more aware of the issues having to do with organic farming.
Excellent JOB EIGHTH GRADE!
May 6th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
I thought that the day of learning went well. I had, Race to the Best Bento Box and Make Trees Save the Planet. My favorite was probabaly the bento box making because I thought it was fun to make complex boxes out of regular boxes. They could improve by making it a double seson because no one finished and if it was a double seson people would of finished and it would of been more fun.
I thought that make trees save the planet could of been better because it was kind of boring to put green and brown peces of paper together and make it in a tree shape. They could of made it more fun and interesting by telling us why it helps the planet and by not having us make trees the whole time and telling us about what we can do to help save the planet.FANTASTIC JOB EIGHTH GRADERS!!!!!
May 6th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Day of learning was fun. I wish it was longer. I was in build a farm and bento box.
May 6th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
The day of learning was a lot of fun. The first activity was fun, but I wish we had more time to finish our projects( Someone else’s trash, our treasure). My second activity was soooooo much FUN! It was very yummy and I wish we had gotten more candy. Also, I don’t think that I learned that much from eating fluff, m & ms and gum drops (A green house for a gingerbread man). Overall, this day was loads, yummy and -even though I was distracted- learned some stuff about sustainabilty!
May 6th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
I ment ( on the last sentance),”Overall, this day was loads of fun, yummy and -even thought I was distracted- learned some stuff about sustainability!
May 6th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
the eighth graders looked like it took even longer than a few months to make it was kind of short but it was fun my first workshop was my favorite, bento box but i wish we had more time so my bento box could be done.
May 6th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
I think that the sistainability day was a lot of fun, not just because we got out of morning classes, but also because we learned something that has a lot to do with our present day lives. When i went home that day i could talk to my parents, and have a convorsation about it because sustainablility, as i learned has a lot to do with EVERYONE and not just our middle school. i like the way that we can encorperate these things into our day to day life. I have never stopped to calculate tax when i go food shopping with my parents (im not saying that its someting that we don’t need to know) but i could tell my mom to get the local bannanas, rather than the one flown in from south america. I think that this fair was great because i could tell that the Eighth Graders took it sereiously and not as a joke. great job.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
i think that the day of learning was lots of fun and i learned a lot about how to help the enviroment! i think that one thing you can change to make it better next year is to make the activities a little longer because at sometimes i felt a little rushed.h
May 6th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
i thoaght your day of learning was really entertaining and fun. you picked the activedies so well!!! :] i hope it will be as good as next year!
ps. harry, emma and lily day you all did a great job!!! ;]
May 6th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
The day of learning was a lot of fun. I learned a lot about about saving our envirment. If we all start recycling and helping the world the polar bears would not die. For next year the activities should be a little longer. You can learn more and not feel rushed.
May 6th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
I loved the day of sustainability I think I learned a lot. I was glad that we got a day to learn about the meaning of sustainability, what we are doing to our planet and how can we stop it. I think the 8th graders should be very proud of their work shops and themselves. I wish it was longer so that everyone would have a longer time to do stuff. I wish I could make my own cosmetics but everything worked out well. In my group-Make trees save the planet I was a little board because all I was doing was putting green pieces of paper on tree paper boarders. Overall I lllloooovvvveeeedddd the day of sustainability!!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 6:20 am
You guys did an amazing job for you Day of Learning day congratulations, but I think the students could have helped us a little more but they just kind of stood on the side and watched us then started helping us. They were very nice to us and were really trying hard on achieving their goal of teaching us about sustainability and they did an awesome job at that. Over all I had a great time and learned alot.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:27 am
my constructive comment i felt like the eighth graders did a good job because they made the workshop fun and interesting by talking and helping us
May 7th, 2008 at 7:13 am
the workshops were very fun the eighth graders did a good job making the workshops fun.
they also really helped me learn about why the workshop was important. thank you
May 7th, 2008 at 7:15 am
The workshops helped me to understand the importance of global warming.Everything I know about global warming was stated and much more. It was well organized. Next time the other students should be prepared to help out the overwhelmed 8th graders.
May 7th, 2008 at 7:16 am
the day of learning was awesome i did the tree collage and bento box the eighth graders really helped me understand the emvirement and the also made the workshops fun.
you guys were great
May 7th, 2008 at 7:25 am
the day of learning was so fun, i learned so many new thing about making beauty products. i also learned about beauty products you get at a store and whats in them. the eighth grade RULES!
May 7th, 2008 at 11:07 am
what I meant to say in my other comment was the day of learning was really fun. the eighths graders have must of put SOOO much work into that. Much more than they did more like 8 months instead of 3 or 4. The eight graders probably had so much fun doing that! You all were AWSOME!!!!!
May 7th, 2008 at 11:12 am
My day of learning activiteis were pretty fun because learnd alot about things that I can do to help the enviorment. It was really exciting and now I’m planting tees at my country. Thanks for inspiring me, you were great.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:32 am
I learned a lot about how to make houses more green by using solar power, wind mills, etc.
great job 8th graders!
May 7th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
I was in the Malaria Jepardy group on the day of learning. I thought this group was very fun and educational. I learned a lot about malaria and it was a fun way to learn. The eight graders did a good job with the group and made it a fun way to learn.
May 7th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
From Trash to Treasures:
I thought this activity was fun. I enjoyed doing it. But, I think we should have more time becuase everything felt rushed.
Sustainable Housing:
I also found this activity fun but, I think there wasn’t enough suplies.
I think that the activities should be all day long so we have more time to do everything.
I thought this was fun.
May 7th, 2008 at 1:01 pm
I was in food and Malaria Jeopardy. Food was so much fun. I learned about eating locally. I learned that eating from far away places causes more pollution. In Malaria Jeopardy I learned that most Malaria medicines cost a lot of money. Too much money for people to pay for it.
Great job 8th graders!
May 7th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
I think that the gingerbread house making was very fun and educational. I think that the people could have been more prepared with supplies. I liked maleria jeopardy, but I didn’t understand why that was part of the sustainability day and why that was green. They also didn’t have anything to do after they explained maleria and we answered all the questions, but luckily Ana had a question. I think that sustainability day should last the whole day and we would have one activity for the morning and another for the afternoon because the classes were very time pressured.

I was in Malaria Jeopardy and Food Glorious food. I think it was really fun, and learning about Malaria and food was interesting. I had no clue how many people die from Malaria each year and where our food comes from. The hosts were really nice, it was also fun. I learned a lot and it was definitely worth it.

Lately, meaning before the day of learning, I have been thinking about sustainability issues, but the day of learning made me think more about sustainability. My workshop was amazing, but it didn’t really make any sense because we created trash to make bracelets. The name of my group was “Sustainable Jewelry”. Sophia, Ava, Ama, and Cellie were my group leaders. The day was a lot of fun. The eighth graders were great hosts and they were always asking us if we needed any help.

My workshop was the starburst bracelet creation. We made bracelets out of starburst wrappers, and learned how using the wrappers and leftovers from foods could be put to a good cause. I found the workshop fun, and enjoyed learning about the fun uses wrappers can be used for. The workshop heads were very helpful, and in all it was very interesting.

I was in Food Glorious Food, and Malaria Jeopordy. I enjoyed Food Glorious because I leanred about how important getting your food from places that grow it in ur general area. The hosts were really nice and they took their time to teach us new things. Malaria Jeopordy was fun because it was a good game and we got to learn about how devastating Malaria is.

My workshop was “Soloar power motors” i enjoyed that work shop because it was very intresting. I Learned how to make a motor work with out losing energy front he earth with very small amount of materials. I didn’t think it would work, but I was surprised and it did work, and it was pretty cool!

Clearly the 8th graders put a lot of work into these workshops, and they were fun, and educational. My first workshop was Bento Box Making (or whatever it was called) and it was fun, the candy at the end was yummy. But I think we should have had more directions, and or assistance. My second workshop was Ginger Bread Houses, that was fun… but SOME CERTAIN PERSON KEPT DESTROYING THE HOUSE AND LICKING HIS FINGERS AND THEN TOUCHING ALL THE CANDY THAT WE PUT ON THE HOUSE AND HE WAS VERY ANNNOYING. But other than that it was great!

In Malaria Jeopardy, we received information about Malaria and answered questions about it for points, and candy. The eighth-grade hosts, Micki, Julian, Zaran, and Aaron (I think) seemed very interested and also were having a lot of fun. I learned so much about a disease I had heard of before, but never really knew much about. The workshop itself was a very creative idea, because it was both fun and educational at the same time.
My second workshop, Food, Glorious Food was also a lot of fun. We learned about the benefits of eating locally, and then made our own fruit salad with locally, organically grown fruit. Everyone had fun. The eighth-grade hosts, Sophie, Lili, Henry and Sam were great too.
I think the idea of a day of sustainability was great, because all the workshops were creative and fun. I think it should definitely continue.

I thought the 8th grade did a great job at the day of learning. They seemed to have a lot of knowledge and made the activities fun. I participated in Natural Beauties and the different beauty products that you could make out of food or grocery products was amazing. I think the 8th graders could have been more prepared by buying more of each kind of fruit. Overall I think the 8th graders really showed that they knew a lot about their topic and were able to share with the people in their workshop.

In build a farm we had to create a organic farm. We were giving a sheet that we had to fill out a sheet saying what kind of animals are you going to have, how many ares are you going to have for the animals, what your going to feed them, and where your going to send them to be slaughtered. Then we had to draw what our farm. I think the eighth-graders made this activity fun and educational.
My other workshop was bento box, this was also fun. A bento box is a japanese lunch box with sections. We all had to bring shoe boxes. Then we made sections with cardboard and paper, some people even made a secret compartment. What I didn’t get is how was making a bento box helping the environment?
Fantastic job eighth-graders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Eighth Graders,
I learned a lot from the Day of Learnig and before that day I didn’t even know what sustainabilty meant. I think you guys did a good job with The Trees Group and The Food Glourous Food Group. I did’nt even know where our food came from before you guys taught me were it came from. Thanks a lot:D
