USGBC Statistics

These are some interesting statistics that I found on the USGBC ( United States Green Building Council) website that I found interesting.In the United States alone, buildings account for:     •    72% of electricity consumption,•    39% of energy use,•    38% of all carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions,•    40% of raw materials use,•    30% of waste output (136 million tons annually), and•    14% of potable water consumption.

                        •           Buildings represent 38.9% of U.S. primary energy use (includes fuel input for production).  

•                                         . Buildings are one of the heaviest consumers of natural resources and account for a significant portion of the greenhouse                 gas emissions that affect climate change.  In the U.S., buildings account for 38% of all CO2 emissions.
