Write about an area that you feel you have been successful this year (this can be a skill, working with certain materials, coming up with ideas) Why do you feel you have been successful.

Write about an area that you feel has been a challenge. Why has this been a challenge? Be specific.

How do you feel you have grown as an artist this year? Have you gotten better at something? This can be an art skill, developing ideas, working with a materials, etc.

Select one piece of art work that you did this year that you feel represents your best work. Why do you think this project represented your best work? What is one thing you did in this project that helped you to do well?

In what ways has your work improved this year? Describe the differences you see between the beginning of the year and now.

What do you feel you still need to work on?

How did you feel about having Digital art? What was your experience working with photography or a specific program?

What new skills did you learn? What progress did you make on previously learned skills? Explain.

Think about all the work that you’ve done this year in class. Did you develop any new areas of strength? What are they? What was most helpful to your growth as a learner?

Discuss your effort and work habits in art class this year. Have you been satisfied with your effort? Has it changed throughout the year?

Example:

I think that as an artist, I have matured throughout the course of the year. I feel that I have gained a deeper conceptual understanding of art. I have improved a lot in my ability to make use of art materials and techniques. In Studio art, I feel that I have been successful in my ability to carry through on challenging painting projects. Both of the painting projects (the stools and the posterized portraits) were a challenge for me because I chose highly complex images to paint. I am particularly proud of my stool because it took so much time and effort and it came out really well. I think my work has improved since the beginning of the year because everything I do has a more substantial meaning for me.I think that I have had a lot of artistic growth in the digital art portion of 8th grade art.I found myself interested in what we had to do, and had found a whole new horizon to discover. I was thinking more about composition and color that attracts the eye, etc. I found myself thinking about the audience and how they would react to my art, especially when we did the Public Service Announcement. Before I did this, I never really though about these aspects of my artwork. I think I was successful when doing my Photo Shoot because it helped me to develop perspective and angular perception with the camera. I also really enjoyed it. The biggest challenge that I faced this year was probably working on my Posterized Portraits because I was unfamiliar with Photoshop so I often had to ask for help. I think that although I had this difficulty the end result was great. Overall, this year has been the year where I’ve gave my greatest effort and participation. I really grew from keeping inside my shell and began asking for advice and really was interested in our projects. This year I’ve seen the most improvement then any other because I feel that I am maturing and so are my art skills.
