The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda

I read The Strange Case Of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger it is part of a series called the origami Yoda series. it is about this boy named Tommy who makes a file with everyones stories, about this very odd person named Dwight, who makes this origami Yoda that might tell the future but nobody knows if it really does. The main problem is that everyone tries to figure out if yoda is real but its really hard to figure out. The setting of the book is at school.

The main character (Tommy) is very curious, smart, and nice.  He is curious because he really wants to know is Yoda REAL or NOT. He is smart because he finds clues that Yoda might be real. He is nice because he listens to what other people say about if they think Yoda is real and doesn’t just say, “You’re wrong! I think yoda is  real.” The most interesting parts of the story are that Tommy and his friends go to this thing called Fun Night. Fun Night is not fun for them even though its called FUN night. Another interesting part of my book is that Tommy thinks origami Yoda is real because Dwight is so dumb, but Yoda is so smart, so dwight can’t be pretending to be Yoda. I think that that part is interesting because it so weird that Yoda is so smart but Dwight is so dumb and strange and odd. When I read that part of the book, it made me feel like I just had to read more. One event that changed the story is when almost everyone thought Yoda was real.

I really enjoyed this book because it is funny, and it’s not that hard to read and the words are not small but not big. If you are someone who likes funny, strange, weird, odd books, READ THIS ONE. I recommend this book because I think you will enjoy the book. It is one of my favorite books, and I think it will be one of your favorite books too if you read it. This book is not like any other books I have read, it is so weird and crazy. I rate this book 1 MILLION STARS!!!!!!!!  ************* …yoda_cover

The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordian

The name of my book is The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan. This book is from the series  The Heroes Of Olympus. There are seven main characters in my book. They are all demigods. Their nimgresames are Piper, Jason, Leo, Hazel, Frank, Percy and Annabeth. The problem is the seven main characters have to go to several different places to find clues that will lead them to the prison where Hazel’s brother Nico is being held.  There are a lot of different settings in the book. Some examples are Camp Jupiter in California, Atlanta, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina.

One of the main characters, Annabeth, is smart, caring, and in a relationship. She is smart because when Frank didn’t know how to figure out the Chinese handcuffs, instead of taking the handcuffs and showing him, Annabeth figured out how to calculate the escape from her diagrams on her computer. She was caring because when Percy (her boyfriend) was lost, she spent a lot of time looking for him. Annabeth and Percy are boyfriend and girlfriend.  When Percy, Frank and Coach Hedge were in Atlanta, they went to an Aquarium. In the Aquarium, they found Phorcys, a sea god. He tricked them into being captured in a glass fish tank designed for demigods.  Another part of the story that stands out to me is Echo and Narcissus.  Echo is a creature who can only repeat what other people have already said. She can’t talk normally because she was cursed. So far in my book, there has not been any big decisions made by a main character.

I have enjoyed the book so far. I like that there are a lot of different characters to learn about. I like how there is a lot action. I would recommend this book because each character is very different from each other and each have their own story. Each character has something they are going through. This book is fiction. This book connects to others in the same series. It is the third book. If you have not read this series yet you should read the first book first.  I would give this book 5 stars (even though I am still reading it).

Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson

150px-MoominlandMidwinter

I read Moominland Midwinter by Tove Jansson. This is the fifth book of the Moomin series. The main characters are Moomintroll and Too-Ticky. The main problem is that Moomintroll wakes up in his hibernation and can’t fall asleep so he has to survive winter. This book takes place in a House a Bathing House and mostly in the Woods.

Moomintroll is curious, kind, and brave. He is curious because he saw someone under the sink and he tried calling out “ it’s ok” and he tried leaving out food he tried really hard to find out who was under the sink. Moomintroll is kind because he was kind enough to let a lot of people stay in his house. Moomintroll is brave because he was brave enough to go and save Little My on the breaking ice. Moomintroll and Too-Ticky have to take care of a lot of people that come over so they have a warm place to stay. Something called a Hemulen comes over and the Hemulen is really annoying to everybody. But Salome, the little creep, likes him. Too-Ticky knows about the lady of the cold so she warned everyone to stay inside. If the Lady of the cold looks you in the eye then you freeze. But when the lady of the cold comes, a squirrel forgets to stay inside, so he gets frozen. Moomintroll makes a big decision to not go back to sleep but to see what winter is like.

I enjoyed this book because it shows you how Moomintroll reacted to his first winter. I also like how Tove Jansson is really descriptive about the snow. I would recommend this book because it’s a really good book for people who like books with animals, adventure, friendship, survival and nature. This book connects to my life  because I bet I didn’t like my first winter either because it’s cold and you have to wear too many layers! I rate this book five stars out of five.

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing By Judy Blume

9780142408810

Peter, in the book Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, has a problem in his family. My book is Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing By Judy Blume. The main characters are Dribble the turtle, Fudge, and Peter. The story is about a boy named Peter who is in fourth grade. He has a little brother named Fudge who is very annoying. All the chapters have a mix of different problems in their life. The book takes place in New York.

Peter is very patient because Fudge sometimes does not want to do activities and is babyish. So no matter what Peter encourages Fudge to play nicely. Peter gets frustrated when his mom doesn’t support him when he is arguing with his brother. Peter is also very annoyed that he has a little brother because Fudge is always messing around with Dribble. In fact Fudge actually ate him. One part I found interesting was when Fudge thought he could fly so he jumped off the top of the jungle gym and lost his two front teeth. Then Peter kept calling him “Fangs” because it looked like he had fangs. This made his mother mad but I thought it was funny. Fudge really didn’t care and joked pointing to his mouth saying “All gone.” The funniest part is when Fudge actually ate Dribble… Peter discovered Dribble was missing from his bowl and Fudge was pointing to his belly saying “Dribble in this tummy!” Then his mom took Fudge to the emergency room and the doctor gave Fudge castor oil, milk of magnesia, and prune juice to get Dribble out. Finally at midnight Dribble came out! Fudge came home from the hospital with a hand full of presents from his mom because she felt bad for him. Then their dad came home from work with the biggest present of all. It was for Peter and instead of a new turtle it was a dog!! Peter named it Turtle to remind him of Dribble. The dad said it was for Peter ONLY. This made Peter feel so happy and loved.

I loved the book because Peter has a lot of things to deal with and it is very funny. I recommend this book to people who read the other Judy Blume books because it is awesome. This book is not really connected to any books I have heard of. I give this book 3 stars because it is not that interesting. I prefer books that are long and take a while to read and are about adventures.

Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar

Wayside-School-Is-Falling-Down-9780833575357I read the book Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar. This is the second book of a series called “The Wayside School”. There are thirty main characters in this book. The book is mainly about all the different kids in the Wayside School and their different stories. The setting of the book is the Wayside School. It is thirty stories high with one classroom on each floor, but it was meant to be one floor with thirty class rooms in a row.

I have a lot of favorite parts of the book. One interesting part is the chapter about Mrs. Mush, the lunch lady. In the beginning of her chapter it says, “warning: do not read this story right after eating. In fact, don’t read it right before eating, either. In fact, just to be safe, don’t read this if you’re ever planning to eat again.” You will have to read the chapter to figure out why. I also love the chapter about Bebes Little Brother. I liked this chapter because it is really funny because every time Bebe brings back her homework it says something mean and disrespectful about Mrs. Jewls.  This is funny because of the things she wrote.  Bebe wrote that Mrs. Jewls’ head is full of oatmeal and it leaks out of her ears too and she said George Washington never told a lie unlike Mrs. Jewls. The chapter is a little confusing but you get it at the end of the chapter. I will stop there because I don’t want to spoil anything. Three adjectives to describe Mrs. Jewls are weird, curious and dumb. What she did to the computer was weird and in other little parts of the book she is weird also, and curious because she wants to know everyone’s problems. But also dumb because she is always doing the opposite of what people tell her to.

I really liked this book. I would read it 10,000 times because it is so funny. I laughed through all of the book. Also, if you are someone that does not like to read, like me, this is a good book for you. Because when you read one sentence you can’t stop reading. Each chapter is about 2-4 pages and it is a very small book. I would recommend this book to everyone and people that like funny books. A book that is sort of like this is Amelia Bedelia. This book is the exact opposite of our school because of all the crazy things they do. Out of 1-5 I would give it a 5!

Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Bloom

imgresMy book is Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume.  The main characters are Peter, Fudge, and their mom and the dad.  The book is about Peter the fourth grader and his little brother Fudge who always drives Peter crazy.  The setting is New York City and some specific places are Peter’s house, the park and Peter’s dad’s workplace.

The plot of the book is Peter gets a turtle at a party and he names the turtle Dribble.  Peter is very protective of him but Fudge always messes around with Dribble and Peter gets mad at Fudge. I would describe Peter as protective of Dribble because whenever Fudge touches Dribble Peter gets mad.  One time Peter spanked Fudge because Fudge did something very bad to Dribble. I think it is funny when Peter gets so mad at Fudge just because Fudge touches Dribble. I would describe Fudge as immature because he went on top of a climber and jumped off the climber because he thought he could fly.  I would describe Peter’s dad as nice because he got Peter a special surprise at the end of the book to make him feel better.

I sort of liked the book because it was sort of funny and interesting.  One sort of funny thing is when Fudge pretends to be a dog.  One part that is sort of interesting is when Fudge goes on TV.  I would recommend this book to others because it is very silly.  The plot has a lot of random events but it is funny.  I give this book three stars.

Double Fudge by Judy Blume

DbleFudgeThe title of the book is called Double Fudge by Judy Blume and the series is called Judy Blume Hilarious World of Fudge. The main characters in this book are Fudge and  Pete and they are brothers. The book is mainly about a boy who has a little brother called Fudge and he is crazy. Also Fudge loves money. He makes Fudge bucks and plans to buy the entire world. Also the book is about crazy relatives taking over their house and Pete doesn’t like that. The book takes place in  New York City and in their small apartment and in the money factory in Washington D.C.  The time takes place in present time because it is like what is happening now.

The book is also about a lot of cousins coming to their house to go trick or treating. Also a thing about the book is that Fudge gets stuck in the elevator. Another thing that’s important is that Fudge and Pete have to deal with twin cousins and it gets crazy. For example, the twins run around and are loud and knock stuff down. Also a  thing about the book is that Fudge is crazy and in the book one of the cousins is like Fudge and they call that person mini Fudge. The final thing about the book is that Pete does not like having a lot of cousins so he is trying to get rid of them. I would think of Fudge as someone who is wild because he runs around the house and knocks down stuff. I also think of Fudge as a funny boy because he plans to buy the entire world. I also think of Fudge as smart because he made his own money.

I enjoyed this book because Fudge is kind of like me because he has a lot of energy and I have a lot of energy too. I also enjoyed this book because it was fun and there was no boring part in the story. I would recommend this book to readers who like funny books. I would also recommend this book to readers who think of themselves as a little crazy  because then they can relate to it.  I love the whole series, and  if you like this book you will like the whole series too. I would give this book a 4 because I loved it but I will not read it again.

Chomp by Carl Hiaasen

Chomp is a novel written by Carl Hiaasen. The main characters are Wahoo and his father Micky Cray. The story takes place in Florida and in the everglades. The book is about the adventure Wahoo and his father get themselves into when they are asked to help a reality TV show called Expedition Survival.

In the beginning of the book Mickey gets a life-changing concussion from a frozen iguana that falls from a tree and hits him on the head. Now Micky lies on the couch while Wahoo takes care of all the animals in their house, which is more like a zoo than a house. One day they get a phone call from a reality TV show. The Crays owed thousands of dollars to the bank, so they had to take the job. The star of the show was not the brightest man and was not nearly the best survivalist.  Every day he takes a helicopter to the city and sleeps in a luxury hotel and leaves everyone else at a little camp on Tree Island. The main character, Wahoo is brave because everyday he feeds the alligator who bit off his finger. Wahoo is caring because he takes good care of all the wild animals and his dad who got hit by a frozen iguana. He also seems happy with his life and he does not complain if he has to do something he doesn’t want to do, and he seems to enjoy his life.

I recommend this book to people that like humor and adventure. It is also not too long but it’s not too short either. I think this book is similar to a TV show called Man VS Wild which is about a survivalist that goes into remote places and tries to get back to civilization. I give this book four out of five stars because I loved the book, but I don’t want to read it again.

Cartboy and the Time Capsule by L.A. Campbell

The book that I read was Cartboy and the Time Capsule by L.A. Campbell.  The main characters are Hal (Cartboy) and his best friend Arnie.  The book is mainly about Hal writing about the time when15793167 he is living for a time capsule .  The setting is mostly in Stowfield Middle School, Hal’s school.

One interesting part is Hal wants 3 big things. First, he wants his own room because he has two baby sisters and his bed is between their cribs.  Second, Hal wants a Ziptuk e300s because he wants to look cool in school. His mom and dad don’t like to spend money and the Ziptuk is a scooter with a motor so it costs a lot. Third, he wants more time to play on a video game.  He only gets 9 minutes to play a game called RavenCave because he gets 15 minutes in all; 6 to set the video game up and 9 minutes to play the actual thing. Hal is so funny, because after he makes a joke he makes me laugh.  Hal is clever because when his family was going to his grandparent’s house he stayed home and lied by saying he was studying but he wanted his own room so badly that he tried to sell his house!  One time he said something about his classmate named Cindy Shano (and she eats a lot of candy), and Hal said, “I wonder if Cindy has as many teeth as George Washington” because everyone thought that George Washington had one tooth.

I enjoyed the book because you get to read funny and surprising things. Hal farted in the cafeteria and everyone with a phone texted their friends about the farting incident. Hal’s uncle Lou was a monkey, after the middle school dance, Hal said that he looked like uncle Lou because he had a bent back. I would recommend this book if you want to read a book with illustrations that’s funny. Hal’s sense of humor kept me from putting the book down. I don’t think that there are any movies or TV shows really related to this book. I would give this book 4 stars I really liked it.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl

charlie_and_the_chocolate_factory

The book I read is called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. This is the first book in the two book series. The second book is called Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.  The main characters are Charlie, Willy Wonka, grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregard, Mike TV, Veruca salt and the oompaloompas. The book is mainly about a poor little boy named charlie who wins a golden ticket and gets to go to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and is one out of the five people in the world who get to go there. The setting takes place in Charlie’s house and the Chocolate Factory back in the late 1900s.

Willy Wonka isn’t just a chocolate factory it’s also a place to get other candies too. For example they have a everlasting gum that never loses flavor and other awesome stuff.Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory is opening for the first time in years after being spied on by other candy factories because the other factories were losing business, so they needed some of Willy Wonka’s ingredients to keep their business’s up. And so Willy Wonka is opening his factory and putting five golden tickets out into five candy bars out of the millions of candy bars out there in the world. One very interesting part in the book to me was the time when it was Charlie’s birthday and he got a chocolate bar as his only present and you would think that he would get a golden ticket but instead he just ended up with an incredible Willy Wonka chocolate bar. Another very interesting part was when Charlie found a bill on the ground which he picked right up and went right to a candy stand and asked for one Willy Wonka bar and in that bar was a golden ticket! An adjective I would use to describe Charlie is that he is very thoughtful. He is thoughtful because When he got the chocolate bar for his birthday instead of eating it all by his self like other kids would probably do he gave some to all his grandparents and parents. He’s also very skinny because he never gets enough to eat. The third adjective mature because he is always trying to do the right thing and he acts as if he’s much older than he really is like how he takes care of his family even at a very young age. The fourth adjective I would use to describe Charlie is that he is always positive. He is always positive because he is always thinking about the good in life and not the bad.

I love this book! I love it so much that I have even read it four times and would be delighted to read it again. This is probably the first book I have ever really enjoyed and it was so good that it also made me love reading. I definitely recommend this book. Whether you’re a sporty kid, a “I hate reading kid” or an “I hate Roald Dahl kid, you would still love this book. This is definitely one of my favorite books I totally recommend it. I compare this book to James and the Giant Peach another Roald Dahl book because the two boys have crazy things happen to them like flying in giant peach and walking with a giant peach Augustus Gloop. On a one to five star rating I would definitely give it a five.
