Tale Of A Fourth Grade Nothing, By Judy Blume

Tale Of A Fourth Grade Nothing

*****

Tale Of A Fourth Grade Nothing was a good book. It had aTalesFourth9 great story about a boy named Peter who has a brother named Fudge. Peter has a pet turtle that he really cares about and love named Dribble. Well fudge always gets in the way by causing trouble. So a bunch of funny things happen & Fudge always ruins them. Like when the dads client comes over he takes out Peters turtle when he knows he not supposed to & the client hates the turtle and the client leavs the next day. At the end something happens that has to do with Fudge and Dribble & really efects Peter and his feelings. I am not going to tell you, You have to read the book to find out! I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars!

I loved it I hope you will love it to!

A Tale Dark And Grimm By Adam Gidwitz

This book is a horror/humor themed novel. I usually do not like horror and humor together but I think that this book changed my mind. This book is about Hansel and Gretel. All of you probably know about Hansel and Gretel and their cheesy little witch story. but this book shows the original, grimm, tale. Not only does it show you the witch story but it also shows you a bunch of other horrifying, eye-popping, tales. I would recommend this book to people who don’t feel queasy when they read about blood and people who do not get scared easily because as said before, this book is pretty scary (not to me but probably to some people in the grade.) I would rate this book 5 out of 10 stars because I really think that this book did not get the most appealing introduction and ending. But what I really do love about this book is all of the fantasy and adventure in between the horror and humor. The last story about a dragon seemed the most upbeat but if you want to know what it was you’ll have to read the book to find out.

Charlie Joe Jackson’s Guide to Extra Credit by Tommy Greenwald

Charlie Joe Jackson’s guide to extra credit is about a kid named Charlie Joe Jackson who is trying to get extra credit to avoid going to an academic summer camp. So in order for that to happen he has to get straight A’s and is allowed one B. Charlie Joe Jackson realizes that he can do so by getting extra credit in his classes that are harder. He goes to the gym teacher and asks how he can get extra credit in his class and he says… Ha, I’m not going to tell what awful thing he had to do you’ll have to read the book. And then he goes to the art teacher and does the same thing, and the art teacher says that he can by, guess what, I’m not going to tell you!

You should read the book!! I would give this book 100 out of 5 stars. Does he have to go to the awful summer camp or does he get straight A’s with one B? You’ll have to find out! I really like how Tommy Greenwald came to visit our class. It makes you think about the book in a whole different way.

Ten by Lauren Myracle

imgresIn the book Ten by Lauren Myracle, the main character, Winnie, goes month by month from March to the next year in March. She wakes up on her tenth birthday and is super excited. I mean super. She goes downstairs and describes the room as “unicorns frolicking everywhere.” In June, she is in the the neighborhood pool and there is a little girl who is four years old. Winnie has a little brother Ty who is also four years old. Winnie walks over to the kiddie pool (where Ty and the little girl are) and Ty has his not-so-happy face on. Winnie talks to the girl and eventually finds out that the little girl’s name is Erica. She is being mean to Ty because he is wearing pink. Winnie makes Ty feel better later. In order to find out what happens in the year, you have to read the book!

My favorite part of the book was when Winnie woke up and said, “The thing about birthdays is that they are so shiny and sparkly and make the birthday girl feel special, no matter what. And guess what? Today I was the birthday girl! As of today, I was ten years old. As of today-oh my goodness gravy-I Winnie Perry, was living in the Land of Double Digits.” I like that part because it is really funny especially when she says, “oh my goodness gravy” (she says that a lot).

I would recommend this book to people who are and/or just turned ten because you can probably relate to this book a lot. I would also recommend this book to people who like funny books because Winnie is very funny. Third, I would like to recommend this book to people who like friendship books because Winnie has a best friend, Amanda and an older sister, Sandra. Lastly, I would recommend this book to people who like realistic fiction because you  can probably relate to this book a lot.

This book is a series: Ten, Eleven, Twelve, Thirteen, Thirteen plus One. I rate this book five stars!!!!!

Ivy and Bean Bound To Be Bad

Ivy & Bean Bound to be Bad

by Colette Leong

Ivy-and-Bean-Bound-to-Be-Bad-9780811868570

The book I read is called Ivy & Bean Bound To Be Bad and the authors of this book are named Annie Barrows and Sophie Blackall. The main characters are really different from each other. One is Bean (but her real name is Beatrice) and she is a very exciting girl and wants to do more things. But Ivy is a more sophisticated and mysterious and good person.

The setting takes place in Ivy and Bean’s court called Pancake court which has lots of neighbors and lots of exciting people there. (Many kids live here in Pancake court and unalike people live here and lots of exciting characters in Pancake court.) Bean and Ivy want to be kind to nature but their bully Crummy Matt, just can’t help Bean be kind to nature so Bean has an idea to stand up for herself. Bean will do something bad and Ivy will convince Bean to be good so Bean can be good after all. But Bean went a little bit too into her plan so she started to be bad.

I rate this book four stars ****. If you want to find out what happens to Bean, will Bean be good or bad You should read this book if you want to find out what happens to Ivy and Bean!

Vordak The Incomprehensible by Scott Seegert (author) and John Martin (illustrator).

vordak                Vordak The Incomprehensible is a great book. I love it because it is silly and goofy. Vordak is an evil villain. He is very smart and funny. He sometimes talks to himself. It is funny when he does it.  Vordak has an evil lair filled with creepy stuff. The book is him talking to you about what happened to him. He makes a bunch of inventions that work. He made an age reduction ray that makes things young again. He tried it on him, it worked, but it broke and he made him too young so now he has to go to school. My favorite part in the book was when Vordak went to school on the school bus to get to school. He has an enemy named Commander Virtue and he has a kid that goes to school at Farding High which is where Vordak has to go to school. There is some trouble at school though so Vordak does not like it. I like the books that are totally unrealistic like this one I recommend this book to people who like the books that are totally unrealistic and to people who like funny books too. I finished the book in less time than I thought I would read it.  I give this book five stars! Whoever reads it or has read it you are awesome!

LAWN BOY, by Gary Paulsen

LAWN BOY is about a 12 year old boy named _____ (yes, he doesn’t have a stated name) and his family is broke. He is intelligent and thinks he is dumb.

As a birthday present he gets his grandfather’s old 10-speed lawn mower. So, not knowing what to do does the obvious: he mows his cute little, old, not very taken care of lawn.

[The old mowing companies’ boss ran off into paradise with his new wife.] While he’s mowing his lawn his neighbor walks up to him and from across the fence asks; “you mow lawns?…”

And thats where his summer gets exiting.

His first client, a start to a boring, but still exiting summer. While he is mowing the lawn, another customer asks for him to mow his lawn and it happens again and again and again.

Then he meets Arnold, ‘a 70s hippie guy.’ A client who can’t find 35$ and, gets him a small account in the stock market and… before he knows it, he’s sponsoring his very own boxer: Joey Pow…

All of the chapters have a title that you don’t figure out why it’s called what it is called in ’till the end of the chapter

This book is a quick (88 pg.) fun, sometimes cliffhanger, and just a plainly amazing book for a plane ride or car ride that will make you think the story has just begun, so read ‘LAWN BOY returns’ if you want the rest of his story! I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle is a book about a girl, Meg, who doesn’t really fit in with all the other kids. One night she cannot fall asleep because of a hurricane and goes downstairs and finds her little brother Charles Wallace. Charles Wallace knows everything about everything and was expecting Meg to want hot cocoa. Meg actually did want hot cocoa. Their mother Mrs. Murry woke up, also wanting hot cocoa. The twins stayed asleep. All three of them had sandwiches and after a while, a visitor arrived, Mrs. Whatsit. Mrs. Whatsit lives in “the haunted house” in the woods.

Charles Wallace, Meg, and their dog, Fortinbras go into the woods to see Mrs. Whatsit the next day. Suddenly they find a boy who’s name is Calvin. Calvin is a couple of grades above Meg. He is on the high school basketball team. They all introduced themselves and headed towards the house. Charles Wallace knocked on the door. A woman named Mrs. Who was knitting on a rocking chair inside the house. Mrs. Who is a friend of Mrs. Whatsit. They live together. Mrs. Who can only speak in quotes because it is too hard for her to verbalize her thoughts. Mrs. Whatsit wasn’t there so Calvin, Meg, and Charles Wallace went home.

Calvin stayed over for dinner. After dinner, Calvin took Meg on a walk and in the middle of the walk, Charles Wallace appears and says, “we’re going.” Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin head to the house in the woods. (Charles Wallace thinks that they’re going to find their father). When Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin are walking to Mrs. Whatsit’s house they find Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and a little silver shimmer in the air. The little shimmer start’s to talk, “ Alll rrightt, girrllss. Thiss iss nno ttime forr bbickkerring.” Charles Wallace says to Meg and Calvin, “That’s Mrs. Witch.”

That’s all I’m going to tell you because after that comes the part where you don’t want to put the book down. I loved this book because during a few of the chapters I couldn’t put the book down. When I stopped reading, I felt dizzy.

My favorite part of the book was when Meg, Charles Wallace, Calvin, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Witch all travel to a woman named Medium. And as they’re approaching Medium’s house, Mrs. Witch says “WWEE ARE HERE!”. I like that part because it is a little funny. (You will understand it if you read the book.)

I would recommend this book to people who like books that you can really get into because when I was reading it I literally could not put the book down. I would also recommend this book to people who like to read a book and want to be surprised because trust me, there are a lot of surprises. Lastly, I would recommend this book to people who like fantasy that is kind of realistic because the characters are easy to understand but what happens to them is fantasy. I think that ages 9+ should read this book. If you have read When You Reach Me you will love this book.

I would rate this book five stars!
