Sorry, I need to borrow your Frindle

By Madiba Johnson

Nick Allen (the main character) lives in Westfield and goes to Lincoln Elementary School in New Hampshire.

I think the two main characters are interesting. Nick (the student) is extremely and greatly consumed by his own creativity and his teacher, Mrs. Granger is strict and super powerful and that is all because of her eye’s. She can give looks that are very strong. Nick is the central character.

I think that Nick  is a very adventurous, daring and exceptionally creative. In the story Nick creates his own word using something that already has a name. He calls a pen a Frindle. He makes his friends use the word and over a little bit of  time the town and even the country starts to use the word Frindle. Mrs. Granger wants Nick to stop this word from spreading but there is nothing they can do to stop it because the word is not his anymore. The word has spread around the state and then the the country and then then the whole world. I like this book because this story can actually happen in real life. I think I can see myself doing something like this in real life. In the first chapter the title is “Is Nick Allen a Troublemaker?” That makes me think because later in the story it seems like he is a troublemaker but he’s also at the same time not a troublemaker. He is a troublemaker because he creates a word that some people want to stop from spreading but he is not a troublemaker because he did not know it would become a world wide known word! In the first chapter Nick makes his first grade classroom into a replica of a beach while the teacher says “It’s so creative!” And “It’s so colorful!” I think that the author took his time to really think about this book. I would give this book ✮✮✮✮✮ because it makes me realize how things that happen in books can really happen in real life!

The Magic Faraway Tree, By Enid Blyton

39-The-Magic-Faraway-Tree_EL_14nov12_pr_btIf you like magic and adventure you should read The Magic Faraway Tree. The name of the main characters are Joe, Beth, Frannie and Moonface. Beth is the most sensible, friendly and giving. Joe is most careful, adventurous and clever. Frannie is the youngest in age of all of them and she cries a lot and Moonface takes a lot, he has a sweet tooth but can also be clever. They live in the countryside and there is a wood right next to their house. They live on top of a small hill.

They go to different lands and in every land there is a problem like in the land of take-all-you-want Moonface gets so interested in a big quilt that he forgets to watch the hole that leads back down the tree and they get stuck in the land. The way they get up the tree is they climb up the tree and then once they get up the tree there is a hole at the top that leads to a land but you have to go up and then come down quickly because if you don’t get down you get stuck up there forever. The conflict of this book is to get in and out before the land moves.

I think this is one of the best books I have read in a long time besides the Harry Potter series I would recommend this book to people who are not picky with books. Some people (like me) would think that the beginning of the book is boring and put it down and pick up another book.

I am going to give you a tip,  you must read farther because the middle of the story is more interesting. I would give my book 500 stars! Just kidding, I will give it ✬✬✬✬✬ stars.

Stuart Little, By E.B. White

703203 This story takes place in the city of New York where the Little family including their cat, have one big or should I say very small problem. One of their sons is a mouse!

This story is about a tiny mouse that was unexpectedly in a human’s family. His name is Stuart Little. He is used to do all of the “hard work” like pushing ping pong balls for the other kids if the balls went under tables and chairs and having to go into the piano to fix the hammer and emerging quite deaf. He also has some hair-raising events like being thrown into the garbage and at the same time finding a friend and deciding to run away from home. In the middle of the end of the story, Stuart declares “Goodbye, beautiful house, I will miss you.”

I like this book because it is a fiction book. For example Stuart is a talking mouse and any human that gave birth to a mouse would go running for the hills. Also there is a cat in the house that has so much self restraint that he does not chase or eat Stuart. I would recommend this book to adventurous people because the book would not be interesting without some big decisions and some action. For example in the beginning of the story he decides to help a captain of a toy boat win a race against another boat captain. I would give this book 100 stars! Just kidding I would give it 5 stars.
