Ellen Tebbits, By Beverly Cleary

The title of this book is called Ellen Tebbits by Beverly Cleary. The main character is Ellen Tebbits. The setting is in a ballet class and it takes place in the present because they have modern things. Ellen Tebbits has a secret that will ruin her life if people from her school find out. She finds out that the new girl, Austine Allen, is hiding the same secret. They become the best  of friends and Ellen doesn’t feel that embarrassed about her secret. But when Ellen does something that Austine cannot forgive her for, she stops talking to her! It becomes really hard to say sorry to Austine and Ellen doesn’t know what to do.

20131021213542!Cover_of_Ellen_TebbitsI enjoyed this book. my favorite part is when Ellen finds Austine hiding in the broom closet because she doesn’t want anyone to see that she has the secret and they both find out they have the same secret. I would rate this book three stars *** because I liked it, but I didn’t love it. It isn’t my favorite ether. I recommend this book to people who like secretive books because of their secret.

A Hero For WondLa is the second book in a series. This book is about a 13 year old girl named Eva Nine. Eva Nine is sanctuary born. If you are sanctuary born, then you are made in a sanctuary lab, and you are brought up and trained in survival by robots. Eva Nine was brought up by a robot whose name was Muthr. Muthr stands for Multi-utility task help robot zero six. Eva Nine is faced by one who she believes is a traitor. Also Eva Nine meets her sister, Eva Eight. This book is full of thrills, and I would recommend this book to people who like thrills, and times where you think ‘ well, I didn’t see that one coming.’ I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Emily Winsnap is a wonderful series of books by Liz Kessler. (Warning: Don’t read the next sentences if you haven’t read the books.) In the 1st book, Emily finds out she can turn into a mermaid when she goes in the water, and tries to hide it so she doesn’t end up in a scientist’s lab. But she finds out a secret that has been hidden since Emily’s birth, that her mermaid friend, Shona, helps her figure out:  Her dad’s a merman! Emily’s dad has been missing since her birth, and when she finally rescues him, her family and Shona go to live in Allpoints Island, where mermaids are safe from humans, which leads to the 2nd book. But we figure out that mermaid girl’s lives aren’t that different than our own. They go to school, have sleepovers, and chat together. But when Emily’s chance to impress the mermaid girls goes horribly wrong, only she can fix it. And to top it off, her only friend isn’t speaking to her. What can she do? Read the book to find out!

This is a two out of three series. #1 is The Secret Language Of Girls. #3 is The Sound Of Your Voice… Only Really Far Away. This book is really good. It is about 2 girls named Kate and Marylin. They are best friends, except this year they were not best friends, the were not even friends! Along the way they meet a lot of girls. Phasley, Flannery and many more! It takes place in middle school. I would give the book 5 stars! It is really intresting to hear about these 2 opposites becoming friends and breaking apart. At some parts it is really funny. Marylin has a secret crush… who might be a little older than her. ( maybe a teacher? who knows?) The girls have a sleepover and there is a mystery at the sleepover, You should read it!

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle

I think that  a winkle in time is a very good book. I don’t want to give a way to much of the book so I’ll tell you a little of the book .Its about  a girl named meg ,her brother charles and their friend Calvin. In this book they go on a big adventure through time and space others who have read it said that it was really confusing ,but I don’t think so. [Partly because I watch Doctor  Who].  I would give this book a 5*****star rating !! And I recommend this to 4th and 5th graders.

The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan

The book The lightning thief is about a boy named Percy Jackson who is something called a half blood. He in the beginning goes to a school called Yancy Academy, a boarding school where Mr. Brunner teaches about greek gods like myths. Percy has a friend named Grover. Percy isn’t the best student so he get expelled every time he goes to a new school. When he got home from Yancy Academy he went on a trip to Montauk some things happen and Percy’s mom dies. Then he ends up at a place called Camp Half Blood. Eventually Percy finds out that his dad is/was Poseidon the god of the sea. Meaning the greek myths are real. After that Percy and his friends go on a quest to prevent a war between the gods.

 

My favorite part of the book is when Percy defeats Ms. Dodds on the field trip to the museum because it was really cool how Mr. Brunners pen turned into a sword.

 

My least favorite part was when Percy first gets to Camp Half Blood because he is really confused and scared.

 

I would recommend this book to people who like a good fantasy book because it has a lot of monsters and stuff like that in it.

 

I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars because it was confusing at some parts, but it is overall a really good book.

The Dog in the Diamond Collar byRebecca Lisle

I read the book Dog in the Diamond Collar, by Rebecca Lisle. I thought this book was terrible because it was too childish. For example, the jokes were meant for younger children and I did not find them funny. The main character was a dog, named Cheeky Monkey, who had a diamond collar and was mean to butlers. However, when his owner gets kidnapped, the dog is helpful in finding him. Cheeky Monkey gets help from three kids. I would not recommend this book because it was boring. I would give this book one star.

imagesAtlantis Rising is about a person named Promi. He is a thief with a sweet tooth in the city of great powers. One day he steals a pie and gets thrown in a dungeon, where he meets a monk who tells him that the immortals are at war with the immortal of war. After Promi gets out of the dungeon he meets Atlanta, who has natural magic. The Immortal of war has a servant named grukkar who is in the mortal world. Grukkar is trying to find a magical object and turn it into a weapon for Narkhazan (the immortal of war.) Also, in the dungeon Promi meets a listener (magical people) who gives him listener powers. He also learns of a prophecy that states that someone with the mark of a soaring bird will hold the balance of the two worlds. Promi has that mark. My favorite part was when Kermi (a magic creature given to Promi by the listener) jumped on Narkhazans face. I would rate this book five stars because it is very interesting.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap, by Liz Kessler

The main character of The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler is Emily there are some supporting characters and they are her mom and Shona. Most of the book takes place, well its sort of even the story takes place on land as well as under water.

One important part of the book was when Emily felt a cramp like felling in her legs a felling of them joining together and that night she was felling a little curious so see snuck out that and creeped into the ocean and she discovers her secret she was a mermaid.

Another important  part of the book was when she and Shona (her mermaid friend) go to this abandon ship and Emily realizes that the ship is exactly what her mom had said her dream boat was like so Emily starts to get a little freaked out.

This was one of the best books I have ever read. My favorite part of the book was when Emily went to mermaid curt because of what she did but I can’t tell you what she did you will have to read the book and find out. I didn’t have a least favorite part. I would rate this book ***** out of ***** and people who believe or want to know more about  majestical creatures this book is for you.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming.

chitty chitty bang bang by Ian Fleming (who also wrote the James Bond series) is a book about a magical car and it’s adventures and it is excellent. chitty chitty bang bang is set in England and France. the main characters are Mimsie Caractacus Jeremy and Jemima Pots a poor-ish family who make millions on an invention. when they get the money they buy a car and fix it up then they go on an adventure. They’re in France they run into some trouble. there is also a recipe  surprise at the end, if you have the right edition. I give this book ***** five stars.photo
