Welcome To Middle School

Dear Families,

Happy end-of-summer and welcome to middle school!  As much as I  enjoy July and August, the first day of school is always one of my favorite moments of the year.  I’m looking forward to meeting you soon and to getting to know your children.  If you haven’t already, please sign up for a time to come for a short conference on Wednesday, September 9th.

As the advisor for your children, I’ll do things like help them unpack in the mornings, pack up at the end of the day and will be generally keeping an eye out for them over the course of the year.  I’m also a resource for you if you have any questions or concerns and your touchpoint person for things like permission slips, or notes about upcoming absences. I’m also their math teacher.

Before we meet in September, please email me (achaney@lrei.org) and let me know about your child as a student and as a person.  What are a few things you think its important for me and his/her teachers to know about right away (especially things that may not already written elsewhere)?  What excites you about your child entering the Middle School?  How do you hope it will be the same or different from last year?  What are you worried about?  What is something you think your daughter or son might like to be asked about?  Feel free to answer all or none of these questions; they’re just a jumping-off point.  I look forward to seeing you soon.

Best,

Ana

PS: This letter is your first introduction to my blog.  Please feel free to “look” around.  It’s where I’ll be posting math homework throughout the year.  You can look at the “games” page for math games, or the “advisory photos” page for photos of my advisees from last year.
