2.20.08 6th Seminar

Given that the formula for the number of conversations is 2n – 4, how is it that none of the people have less than two conversations each and many of them have more than 2 conversations.  What does the 2n really mean?  What does the – 4 really mean?

Hint: A single conversation happens between 2 people.  Therefore, if you have four people, how many conversations would each person need to have in order for 2n to be true?

Show all your work clearly and neatly on graph paper.
