Happy Thanksgiving!

This weekend, please enjoy a restful break with friends and family. Please also be sure to begin thinking about your Colonial Museum Project. The planning guidelines were distributed in class earlier this week. A copy of this worksheet can be found on the PAGES section of the blog. It is entitled “Planning Your Colonial Museum Exhibit.” Please bring this completed plan to class on Monday.

Planning Your Colonial Museum Exhibit

Think back to our trip to Williamsburg and the many exhibits you saw there. Think also about the times that you’ve visited museums with your family or with school. What made you stop at some exhibits and not at others? Was it the topic? Something you were particularly interested in? Was it something new and unfamiliar that you knew nothing about? Was it fun? Did it ask you to do something? Was it interactive? Was it clear, informative, colorful? Did it have a lot of text? Did it have pictures and illustrations?

You already know what your exhibition topic will be and have begun learning about it in depth. It’s time to begin to decide on an interesting, attractive, educational way to present what you have learned to others.

In the space below make a list of the materials that you can think of that will make your exhibit interesting.

Planning Your Exhibit

What are the main ideas that you want to get across to your audience?

How can you do this? Explain your ideas in some detail.

What materials will you need to create this exhibition?

What steps will you take to create each part of this project?

What kind of assistance will you need from your family and teacher?
