READING RESPONSE STRATEGIES

ENVISIONING

– Read trying to experience the story

– Choose a part that matters and copy the beginning if it into your reading response section in your       learning log

– Step into the story and envision it. Fill in details, sounds, actions, thoughts and feelings

NOTICING A DETAIL OTHERS MAY PASS BY

Be a wide-awake reader.  Notice and copy down a detail from the reading that others might just pass by.  Put a post-it there.   Then write some thoughts about what you notice.  Use the prompts to guide your thinking. Write from your point of view, not the character’s.
