1.29.08

This week and next week, we will be practicing test-taking skills in preparation for the ERB’s, which are February 12, 13 and 14.

For homework this week and next, you will have practice sheets to increase your MATHEMATICAL FITNESS.  When you do these problems, push yourself to be as speedy and efficient as possible.  You are responsible for using your green answer key to check your work.  If the sheet takes you less than 30 min, then spend any of your extra time re-doing problems you got wrong.

Tonight’s homework is “Chapter 3 Test” - addition and subtraction problems.

le 28 janvier

Go to the google website and type in “languages on line” and do some exploring. Click on Francais on the left side. Find the following sections:  weather,  numbers  (chiffres),  and games. Pick one activity from each of these sections and complete it and print it out. Bring it to class on Thursday. If you have any problems with this website, see me at IWP tomorrow or Wednesday.

1.15.08

Finish problem 1.3 in Bits and Pieces I

Remember:

For part (D) you are finding the dollar amount.  As we did in class, finding a fraction of $300 first involves dividing to get the fractional part - then, if you have several of those pieces (like four fifths, for example) you can either add or multiply to get the correct amount.

For part (E) use any technique that you think would work to find the fraction - just be sure to show your work.

(Somewhat) New Chorus Schedule

Starting this week, the Little Red Singers will rehearse Tuesdays during lunch/recess. I’ll call this 11:20am - 12:00noon. Any Middle School student who wants to sing can eat a quick lunch at 11:00am, and then go to the auditorium.

The Wednesday afternoon rehearsal remains: 3:00pm (or, after dismissal) until 4:00pm, snack provided!

This gives an opportunity for students who don’t want to go outside for recess in the cold winter can stay inside. I encourage students to give this new schedule a try. There is no need to commit to the Little Red Singers at this time.

We will be exploring new material for the next couple of weeks. More African community harmony, a new song for Martin Luther King, some simply wonderful pieces for school choir, doo-wop - whatever! Let’s sing together and stay warm.
