Sew My Life Back Together

By: Simone

“Oh yes, my daughter is a fine young lady at sewing,” Sue’s mother bragged in the front of their home. Sue’s mother was a rather large women, with big lips, and carried around a beating stick, to hit her nasty other 3 children, Lila, Angel, and Nola. Each of the four sisters had a talent. Lila’s was being bossy, Angel’s was spying, Nola’s was singing, and Sue’s was sewing. It was always a talent of Sue’s.

“Yes she will go  to sew,” Sue’s mother continued. She paused.

“Of course, she will go away.” Sue was overhearing this, but she only heard her mother’s voice, because it was so loud. (Also because the messenger was so quiet.)

“What’s that? Overhearing that mom’s gonna throw you away?” Angel snarled. Of course. She was eavesdropping. Again.

“I’m gonna–” Angel–
“YAHHHHH!!!!” Nola sashed in. She was singing to them.

“Oh shut up Nola,” said Lila. “Go clean up my room!! Mom wanted to me to do it, but, I don’t wanna!!!”

“We’re gonna tell mom!!!”

“Were gonna tell mom.”

“Were gonna tell mom.” They all said.

“Guys, please don’t. Just please let me be.”

“OHHH, I’M GONNA TELL,” Nola sang rudely. Sue was going to be sent away. She just knew it. The dreadful words came out of her mother’s mouth.

“Yes, she will go to the castle for a salary, for us, not her,” her mother said, chin up in the air.

“Thank you, fine maiden, she will travel with us right now, but if she messes up, if the Queen or King’s outfit’s have one less dimond, it’s off with her head!” the messenger exites. “If only I was the person to kill the servants,” he smiled as he said it.

“Yeiks!!” Sue was scared. She just KNEW her mother was talking about her. As much as she wanted to meet her majesty, and his majesty, her life was at stake.

“Sue Sue!!! Sweet nice beautiful daughter,” her mother snarled. “Come here Sue Sue!!!”

“SHE WAS SPYING!” Nola– You know who sang.

“Sue!!! Suey!!” her mother grew more and more impatient. “Nolie!! Get Suey-Suey down to the front of the house, like NOW!!”

“OKAYYY, MOTHER,” Nola said.

“NOLA I SAID NOW!” Her mother screamed.

“MOTHER OKAY!!” Everybody stopped dead silent. Nola for the first time wasn’t singing. It was as if all of the music in her head just drained like a grape lost its juice in the sun.

Sue suddenly had an image in her that made the color in her face drain.

“Ha ha!! Gotcha!!” Nola grabbed Sue and took off running downstairs.

“Why are you doing this?!” Sue said through gritted teeth.

“Cause I’m momma’s fave girl!!”

“Momma? Fav? Where do get these words from? Mother would kill you if you used those words.”

“Whatevs.”

“See what I mean?”

“Well, Momma’s never gonna find out and she will crown me princess yo!!”’

“Oh god, what happened to you Nola!! Mother doesn’t care!” Sue said as they went down the steps of their 6 floor run down house. The girl’s mother would say ‘it’s perfect for our time period, 1606 and this is a 6 story house!! We are rich if we could afford that!’ But it wasn’t expensive, Sue read her mother’s diary out of boredom, and read that she found an abandoned house–this house and made a home.

“Useless girl, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??????” The girl’s mother screamed. Sue gave Nola’s scared/confident face a look of I-told-you-so as her mother plopped Sue in the wagon. On it was a familiar flag. The Kingdom’s flag. Nola noticed this.

“Wait, I want to go to the Kingdom momma–mother!! I thought I was your fav-favorite!”

“Oh, you are S.S.V,”

“HEY!!!” Angel said from the bedroom 4 stories up. Lila quickly covered her mouth.

“I told you not to eavesdrop Angel!!” Lila bossed.

“HEY YOU SISTERS!! MOMMA IS TELLIN’ ME SOMETHIN’ AND I WANNA HEAR IT SO YOU BETTER SHUSH!!” Nola STILL wasn’t singing.

“Nola,” Her mother warned. “You don’t want to be where Sue is going,” Sue heard this. The messenger was having trouble with his horse so this was the perfect time. It was now or never. Sue jumped out of the wagon without a sound.

“MessMess Messenger I don’t know you’re name you should come back to our lovely loving caring spirit like amazing lover sweet good five star house,” the girl’s mother cooed. “You really should!!!”

“Uhh, I think I’ll pass,” the messenger said.

“Well, (Write me!!)”

“Heh heh,” The messenger looked around to see that the girl, was gone.

“Well here’s my address for my lovely loving caring spirit like amazing lover sweet good five star house!”

“Um, miss, your daughter, she is–”

“I know, I know, has a weird talent sewing, any girl in the village could do that!!”

“She is–” the messenger got cut off again.

“Not a lady of any sort! I do not understand why you want her in your palace–”

“SHE IS GONE!”

“Rude,” Her mother said. “She is gone well THEN FIND HER YOU IDIOT!!!!”

“Rude,” The messenger sighed as he hopped on his horse.

*Crack*

Sue had been spotted in the bushes.

“Get her in the cart NOW!!” The messenger sighed, and did as he was told, and plopped Sue back into the wagon.

“This is no book,” The messenger sighed. “This is reality. And you can not and will not run away again.”

Sue did not say anything. Sue decided this was a truly sigh like day.

“Bye bye! *har har* Nola laughed as Sue rolled away. Sue was scared for what was ahead of her. I mean, why didn’t mother send away Nasty Nola, or Acupuncture Angel, or Sticky Lilypad Lila, (Sue spent her spare time making up horrible nicknames that suited what they did to her) She was the baby of the family, so Sue’s sister’s would torture her in all different ways, not working together, but all doing the same thing. It was the worst though when all of them attacked her at once. She suddenly had the very big urge to break something.

“Sir why am I going to the castle?” Sue spat even though she knew the answer to the question.

“Well, you are going to sew bit’s of the King and Queen’s clothing items,”

“What about the other workers?” Sue asked.

“We don’t let our servants meet. So that they don’t gang up on the King and Queen. ALSO clean the toilet, and wash the dishes, and wash three quarters of the clothes, (The servant’s a working in different locked up rooms, thank you, my idea, be a sous-chef (Get it, sous-chef, Sue chef?) Also my idea, because it suits your name! Oh yes, sorry I added one more to the list of jobs you have, so one more. Sorry!” He went on going with all the jobs, but he said most importantly, never leave the sewing room unless ordered. At least she would meet the King and Queen, after all, but they had to be really cruel to do that to her, so maybe not so pleasant. Sue looked ahead. They were almost there. Sue knew that this would be worse than home, and that is saying something. Not for the King and Queen–but for herself. The gates to the glorious castle opened, and there, were two figures standing in the distance, covered in diamonds, gold, rubies, pearls, and so on. Only one guess of who they could be. The King and Queen. The King looked fine. The Queen looked distressed.

“Oh thank goodness she is here! Our last we need more servants! And fast! My dress has a horrible stitch, one diamond is falling off, I have hangnail, it’s all just horribly terrible!” Sue had never heard the Queen’s voice, she sounded American, even though the Country was British. She sounded was less spoiled before in when she made a speech in the valley…

“Hello, my name is Sue and I will be helping you,” Sue said.

“Never speak unless you’re spoken to young village girl,” The Queen spat. “And your MAJESTY to you!” It was like the Queen was showing off the fact that she was married to the King.

“Vanilla, you should not talk to our new servant like that,”

“Do not call me Vanilla in front of people! Vanilipe! And she started it!”

“You really do not sound like the Queen right now.” The Queen’s head turned.

“What did you say?”

“Nothing, your Majesty.”

“Ugh!! I have had enough with this girl! Double dishes for you!” Nobody knew it, but Sue enjoyed doing the dishes, so she was cheering inside her head. But she had to sound disappointed to do them.

“Okay, your Majesty.”

“Take her away, to the head lock station.”

“No Vinalipe,” The King said as the Queen looked like she was going to kill someone. Sue.

“DIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” The Queen started pulling towards her. Sue decided that the Queen was a baby. That she didn’t deserve to be Queen.

“She deserves to have a tour around the castle,” The King quietly said. The Queen heard him though.

“SHE DOESN’T DESERVE ANYTHING!! EVEN TO LIVE IN THAT BARN YARD!!” The Queen was getting really angry now.

“She is meeting our son and that is final!”

“FINEEEE.” The Queen went upstairs.

“Now you young girl,” The King said as sweet as sugar. “That is no way to talk to a Queen. And she has some problems, if you had noticed, but if you are going to meet our son, well, he has gone into a phase of ‘I NEED A WIFE!’ But don’t get offended if he is a bit rude,” The kind King said. “Get some rest, because tomorrow you have a very busy day of sewing, cleaning, stitching, and cooking. See you tomorrow!” The King said if she had not just had the worst experience of her life. She got taken up to the sixth floor (There are nine if you were wondering) to a place with a twin bed, and a very small dresser. Inside the dresser, there were five pairs of her uniform, and on that uniform was a loose stitch. Sue found a needle. On that needle there was a cockroach. Wait, COCKROACH!!!!!

“This is what my life will be like,” Sue said trembling as she slid the cockroach off the sewing needle. As she was sewing the stitch back together (which didn’t take very long because she was an expert sewer) Sue decided to get some rest, she hoped she didn’t have a nightmare, because in her culture, any nightmare that you have, is telling you the future. She drifted off, to a far away place. To Sue’s surprise, there was a goblin creature, screaming for hours. She couldn’t take it anymore. That’s when Sue woke up. She looked at her watch. It was three o’clock. Then, a goblin (the one from her dream!)

Put a cowbell over her head and–

“Oh no,” Sue cried.

“Please don’t–”

–Rung the bell.

RING!!

“Ring it.”

“Get to work you maiden!” The mysterious goblin said.

“Ew! Really? Out of all bugs you decided to call me a maden? I mean you could’ve called me a cockroach or,” Sue went on mumbling as the mysterious goblin dragged her down stairs.

“No different from home,” Sue sighed.

“Okay, here’s what your gonna do. You’re workin’ for me now, so I get less jobs. You today hafta sweep the floors, wash the floors, wash the clothes, wash the dishes,” The goblin went on and on  until she paused. “But the most important job that you have to do it repair ALL the clothes. The prince is having a festival, and the King, the Queen, the prince, all want to look nice. So hop to it!” The goblin gave Sue a long list of tasks, and skidded away. This was going to be a long day of work.

LATER…
Sue flopped onto her bed, sore bones and all. She was so tired from sewing, and washing dishes, and cutting shrubs, and being a Sue chef, that she didn’t move.

For…

-One hour

-Three hours more

She was about to move onto one more hour but this happened:

KNOCK KNOCK

“Come in,” Sue sighed.

“Hello you snot ball,” The Queen walked into the room.

“Nope. Not you.” Sue said as she pushed her out the door.

KNOCK KNOCK

“You should not shove the Queen out like that!” The King walked into the room.

“Not you either.” Sue pushed him outside as well.

KNOCK KNOCK

“Are you still dating the prince? ‘Cause, tell him I’m single!” Nola Cheered.

KNOCK KNOCK

“Sue?” The prince asked.

“Die.” Sue was tired, and pushed him out of the room.

“Ow!” He said as he got pushed.

SCENE Two

As Sue was cutting the simple plants.

“Ick. Thorny rose bushes. OWWWWWW!!!” (the reason that she was cutting the simple plants was because she was only good at sewing but there gardner ran away but I’m hiding that she is bad in parentheses!) She was making them look like the royal family. She heard a voice. She looked over one of the shrubs, to find a boy with a little tiara on top of his head, no doubt the prince. He had a book in his hands, with the cover of ‘how to get a wife in the Kingdom.’

“Oh, all of this is stupid,” he said. That’s when he noticed Sue, and her grossed out expression.

“What?” He said.

“Really. You’re trying to get a wife and you’re like twelve.”

“Whatever! You have no business in what I do.”

“Well good luck with getting a wife,” Sue said.

“Hey!” The prince was obviously not easy to please.

“I thought you were like twenty or something, but twelve! Wow, just wow.”

“Aren’t you afraid of me! I can call my mother, or my father, and you will get beaten to death!”

“Hm, wow, very deep, I think they need me more than I need them. So, no.” The prince was shocked.

“Well, bye!” Sue said as she hurried off to wash the dishes. Later that night, Sue carved her name into the stone wall, as well as a tally mark as well as ‘I a never getting out of here.’ Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

BANG!

Sue opened the door. I pile of yarn, diamonds, rubies, pearls emeralds, gold, and so on. The goblin was at the door.

“Get sewin’. There are sewing needle’s in your cabinet. Here’s a picture of what the dresses are gonna look like.”

“For the festival? But the festival is in June! It’s mid-may!”

“There are three dresses for you to sew, and they are difficult.”

“I sew fast.”

“Okay! Good! Get working.” The goblin skidded away again, and then ran back. By the way, you have a visitor. To the gates of the unlimited castle. Go go!” Sue made her way up to the castle gates, to see her family, on a wagon, so squashed, that Sue almost laughed.

“Child!” Sue’s mother said to her. “You are so pale!” Sue rolled her eyes inside of her mind. She WAS pale. She knew that by now.

“Mother,” Sue said softly. “What are you doing here?”

“We are not getting your salary!”

“So you didn’t come here to check on me, see how I was doing?”

“Goodness no!” The girl’s mother looked around, and got interrupted.

“Sue! Oh, how are you and the prince! I saw you in the garden,” Angel said.

“Okay, that is just weird. Your spying has gone too far.”

“Okay, EVERYONE SHUT UP!” Lila said and then quickly covered her mouth.

“LILA!”

“Sorry mother,” Lila said quietly.

“Mother, why does Nola look paralyzed?”

“I took her to the doctor. Where is the salary person?” Her mother demanded.

“In the basement take a left.” Sue sighed.

“Oh, and here’s a comb for your hair!” Angel laughed. Sue sighed again, and brushed her hair for the first time in two weeks. In the bushes, someone was watching. And emerged from the hiding spot.

“Oh hello Sue,” The prince startled her. ‘Oh god,’ Sue thought.

“I just thought, would you like to come to the festival with me?”

“Nothing more than you making me?” Sue knew where this was going. She couldn’t say no to the prince.

“Well, I could also be your charmingdate!” The prince said. “ Fine. But we are NEVER gonna be friends.”

“Okay,” The prince as soon as Sue turned around and started jumping up and down and whispering ‘Not for long!’ Sue started walking away. She had to start sewing the dresses, not to mention her dress for the festival. Great. One more thing piled on top of her.

That night, Sue stayed up the whole evening sewing one dress after another. Five hours, one dress done. Two hours, a suit done. Six hours a suit done. It was time to make her dress, three hours. So she had four hours left of sleep. Or maybe she could do her tasks early… Sue went downstairs as a sous chef, and made angel food cake, and she swept the floors, and washes them, and made the beds, as soon as the royal family woke up.

“We’ll Sue, you have done almost all of your tasks. You need to feed the animals, and cut the bushes, and make some meals, but for the most part, you can have the day off. Sue finally had her first day off! She was excited, but also upset, because she had nothing to do.

“Um, what’s your name? What will I do?”

“My name is Bertha,”

“Bertha,” Sue repeated.

“Oh, me almost forgot,”

“What?” The goblin fell over like a pile of bricks, her eyes turned to the back of her head, and then back again. But instead of brown, her eyes were red.

“Hello Sue. I know your secret.”

“Yeah. Totally!” Sue had made her one reason of her case.

“Oh, yes it is. What do you think I am, just a goblin?!” Bertha roared.

“Um, yes.”

“NO! I see the past, present AND FUTURE!!”

“This secret revealing music means nothing.”

“Oh yeah, that’s just the choir upstairs rehearsing.”

“Okay cool.”

“NEVERMIND THAT! I WAS GONNA HAVE MYSELF A DUEL!” Bertha screamed.

“And I thought you were mean before?”

“Yas. I know.” The new Bertha said.

“Oh-wait, the music stopped.”

“Yas. Yas indeed it did.”

“Okay.” Sue said.

“Whatevs.” BERTHA THE TEEENAGER!!

“Weird words are like a thing now right?” Sue asked.

“Toast.”

“What?” Sue was confused.

“It’s a thing.” Bertha said.

“Toast?” Again, Sue was confused.

“Oh my gouda.”

“Gouda?”

“Oh my god! You don’t know the words!” Bertha exclaimed.

“You’re blocking the exit.” Sue was upset.

“I know.”

“W-w-w-w-wait. You just told told me you have powers like two minutes ago, that is considered witchcraft!” Sue figured it out.

“Um…” Bertha had not considered that.

“HEY! If you try to kill me, I will tell them that you are a witch! Ha! I’m sneaky!”

*Gasp!* You never!” Bertha gasped.

“Uh huh honey!”

“Fine.” Bertha skidded away.

“Yes!” Sue whispered.

“Oh, hello Sue! Fancy meeting you here!” The prince hopped over pieces of dry food to her.

“Oh god.”

“Well, I really like your suit that you made for me.”

“You have nothing to talk about do you.”

“You are correct.”

“Okay bye!” Sue waved.

“Dang it.”

“Bye bye!”

“Don’t leave! NOOOO! I have a question!!!” But she had already left.

MEANWHILE BACK AT HOME…

“Nola you took my dress!” Angel cried.

“Well you took my watch!” Nola defended.

“Shut up people! Won’t you shut up for a second!” Lila screamed silence.

“We’ll going to tell mom you told us to shut up!” They both said.

“I’ll tell mom you stole!”

“Girls QUIET!”

“Momma?”

“Shut up Nola,” Their mother was concentrating.

“It says in the W.O.D.P. (Weekly Old Days Paper) That Sue got what she wanted. We can not let that happen. WE need a better life than her. Who does she think she is, running around the palace, pretending that she has a better life than the us.” Mother was on a roll here. “Like we are not attending that party. It says here that Slave Sue and prince Noah are going to the ball together!”

*Gasp!*

*Gasp!*

*Gasp!*

“I KNOW. So we WILL be attending that party, we will get her back, one of you will dress up and pretend to be her friend break her heart we will get her, and then tell everybody her secret just because we can.”

“Oh Oh I’ll do it! I’ll break her heart!” Angel said who had been listening carefully this whole time. She had a plan.

BACK AT THE PALACE

“Our sewing maidens are in protest!” The Queen cried.

“Except for one.” The King replied.

“Ick. I hoped she had died by now.”

“She’s the only one left.”

“The only one left to kill.”

“Oh Vennila,” The King sighed.

KNOCK

“Come in.” The King took a deep breath as he said it. What more could happen? It was already a horrible day.

“Hello mom, hello dad,” The prince came in.”

“Hello son.” The King sighed.

“You will be happy to know, I have found my wife.”

“OH SWEETIE CAKE’S MY HONEY BUNS!!!! HOW EXCITING!!!!!”

“It’s you mother,”

“WHAT?” The Queen was shocked.

“I mean, I’m twelve, your twenty, dad’s forty!”

“I am not marrying–”

“I’m kidding! You might know her, her name is Sue.”

“WHAT. DID. YOU. JUST. SAY??!!” said the Queen raging with anger.

“I’m going to rule with her.”

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.” The prince replied. You might be asking like what the heck is he like Einstein? No he’s just good at math, and recording numbers. How he usually flirts with girls is he says: “Hello Patty!” Or whatever name and following: “39579389854798275983759827982759827592879857197092985479285739548024 are the girl’s that are not as beautiful as you and your rear end.” What he hopes to hear: “Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”

What actually happens: “Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!”

Anyway back to the story…

“It can’t be! Harry?” The Queen looked deep into the man’s eye’s, the same way she got him to marry her.

“I am tired of that look, go ahead son. Mary Sue. Go downstairs and ask her for her hand.” The King didn’t want another argument with his son.

“Thanks father! You’re the best!” The prince said as he happily walked away.

“UGH! HARRY, I WILL KILL YOU!!

“You were once like Sue, a young village girl,” The King went into one of his LONG cheesy stories.

“I know but now I am so beautiful.” The Queen tried to stop him from his story.

“I think that my son loves her is what you hold against her.”

“Shush!”

“You used to be covered in rats–”

“Shut up!!!!!”

“–I thought being with a twenty year old would make me feel younger, but really, it makes me feel older, telling you off all the time.”
“Harry, I don’t like you for yourself. I love  you because of your money!” The King gasped. He was angry. All the secrets locked up in the Queen came pouring out like vomiting a string of words that she could not control. The Queen quickly regretted saying that secret.

“Our son can marry whoever he wants.”

“UGH!” The Queen screamed.

“I’ve heard enough ‘HUGH’s’ get yourself down to the horse’s stable, and clean the droppings!” The King yelled.

“You can’t do that! I’m the Queen! I deserve this!”

“A Queen with anger problems.” A guard said.

“Go into the bathroom, and change those clothes! You aren’t even Noah’s real mother! I’m going to find myself a wife!”

“EH!”

“I’m going into the valley!” And with a huff, he was gone. The Queen went to the stable.

“I am going to kill you little brat Sue!” She mumbled. “With an army or not!”

“I need to get out of here, tonight!” Sue thought. As Sue trudged up the steps, she has a idea.

“What if I can make a rope–” Sue’s thoughts get interrupted.

“HIYA SUE!” The prince stood in front of her.

“Hi, can I can past you? I’m kind of in a hurry.”

“I’m the prince and I order you to stay,” he said.

“Cool,” she said.

“Yep,” he said.”

Silence.

“Now I’m just gonna run past you, so…”

“NO!” but it was too late. Sue was up and running. She KNEW he would send guards after her, she just knew.

“SUE! YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!” the prince hollered after her, face as red as a tomato.

“You sound like my mom!” Sue called back. She ran inside her room. She locked her door.

“Time to get to work,” Sue mumbled. She tied a rope out of her bed sheets.

“Knot better than the last one, nice and tight,” Sue thought. She could HEAR the guards practically killing her door. She put a chair, a lamp, and her bed on it, and last but not least, a cracker. She tied the last knot.

“Goodbye,” Sue said as she swung the rope over the tower.

“GET HER!” she could hear behind her. She didn’t care anymore. She would have to make herself a living. She was dropping farther and farther down the rope. She took the rope so it would be harder for them to follow her tracks. The Prince and the guards burst into her room, to find a bed with no bed sheets on it, and a open window.

“HEY!” The Prince hollered, from atop her window. She stuck her tongue out at him.

“I, am going to sew my life back together,” Sue thought as she walked farther and farther into the gleaming light called freedom.

THE END

The Circuit Essay

Even though Francisco has so much loss in his life, he is rich                                      in support and love from his family which makes him grow                                                                                      stronger.

As an immigrant, you encounter many difficult things in your time. There is a long list of what may be your obstacle. You could be bullied for your differences, you could move so much you don’t have contact with even one friend, or losing a lot of very important things to you. But many people have support from somebody important to them. In The Circuit, even though Francisco has so much loss in his life, he is rich in support and love from his family which makes him grow stronger.

Francisco was supported by his mother when she came outside his “house” to support him when he lost something special to him. In this chapter, Francisco starts collecting pennies. His father gave him one which was made the year his father was born, and also the year the war started. He loved each and every one of them, and his collection grew. He got one from his best friend Carl, before he never saw him again. But then, his sister traded in his two favorite pennies for two red gumballs, and he got very angry. But his mother calmed him down, with a story. He felt supported through this because his mother saw what he was going through.

“I know how disappointed you are mi’jito but your sister is only four years old,” she said tenderly. After telling him a calming story, she said: “please, don’t go so hard on your younger sister.”

His mother was giving him advice but she was not scolding him for being angry with his younger sister. She gets what he is going through, and for that, he feels supported.

Another time, Francisco lost something even MORE precious. One of their many homes perished in a lovely fire, and along with the house goes his librito, his translation book. He felt terrible. How do you feel when you lose your favorite thing, or toy, or something that means a lot to you? But his mother, comforted him again.

“Well, if you know what was in your librito, then it’s not all lost.”

His mother is telling him that it is not all gone. When his family supports him, he pushes on, and goes on. His mother saw him memorize it, treat it like a friend, and learn it by heart. She knows it is not all lost. Even though they can’t afford another one.

Francisco’s dad experienced frightening immigration officers sweeping through the camp, and they rushed to tell him. Because there are illegal immigrants, life is much scarier, because at any second, la migra that they had been hiding from the entire book, could storm into their tent at any second.

Mi’jito, are you alright?” his father said as soon as he got home. “La migra swept through the camp–I didn’t know if they had swept through your school too.”

Francisco felt he had lost so much already, he was not going to lose this. For once, he was kind of having fun in school. But still, he was frightened. Francisco felt supported, because he and his family were going through it together.

Francisco has lost so many things in his life, but his family comes to support him in each problem. He is not rich in money. Every friend he gets he loses. But he is rich in support and love from his family, because he knows that wherever he goes, they come with him. Change teaches him to focus on his family, because he loses so much. Every friend he ever had he lost, and every toy or thing he ever had he lost. Mexico was not a choice, they had to follow the food. If you are poor like them, you have to do what you are forced to do.

Civilization Simulation

The Civilization Simulation so far has been stressful, but also fun. At first, our area was very bad, because we didn’t hunt and gather (in the library searching for food in a Atlas) enough,  so we were re-incarnated in a great spot where we didn’t have to hunt and gather.

I think that in the future, when we start going more into the present, that my partner and I  will have kind of a better time than before, because in our old area, the card said farming just possible; but now it says farming possible, and I think that we won’t have to work as hard to find food.

What kind of things that have changed my partner and I’s group so far has been not migrating, has changed because everybody else migrated (meaning picking another card) and we stayed the same.
