Being rich does not always mean in money. You can be prosperous with love and friendship. Some families are really rich with love and not that rich in money. When you are poor you get to spend more time with your family because you cannot hire anybody to take away time from you and your children. These families might learn more about each other and get to spend more time together. That is why they are rich in love. In The Circuit by Francisco Jimenez, Francisco’s family may be considered poor by some standards, and in other ways they could be considered wealthier than many.   

All of Francisco’s family was so excited when they heard that they had a little boy joining their family.   When they have more children they will need more money, but they love each other so much and they will have so much love for the new baby. “When the baby was finally born, Roberto, Trampita and I were excited to see him, especially because we had worked so hard to get things ready for him.” Page:31 They all care for each other and love each other more than you can ever imagine. The family is rich in love because they were so excited to have a new family member. They were not complaining about how much they might have to sacrifice when the new baby is around.

Francisco felt rich when he walked into his new learning environment. Francisco is so used to living in not that nice of an environment that it is almost the opposite of his classroom. He is living in a tent which does not have electric lights or anything that his classroom has. Francisco spends much of his time in school or outside working. He felt very excited when he saw where he would be spending most of his time.  He met the principal, Mr.Sims. “Mr. Sims walked me to my classroom. I liked it as soon as I walked in because unlike our tent it had wooden floors, electric light and heat.” Francisco’s family is not rich but when he is in his school building he feels rich with how his classroom is. He is not used to being in an environment that feels that nice.

Francisco’s family is really rich. But not with money their rich with care and kindness. They might not be able to buy everything but they can care and be kind to everything.  They are having another child soon. “Even though mama was always tired from all the work she did she made sure everything was ready for the new baby.” Page 29. Their family has to work so they can make money. Even though most of the time there in the field ther try to make sure everything is ready for the new baby. Francisco’s family cares so much for eachother even though they need the money the moms takes time and tries to find time to get everything ready for the new baby.

In The Book Circuit Francisco has so many siblings in his life to have fun with him that he doesn’t need money to have fun. He doesn’t need a phone, he doesn’t need 1000 games, he doesn’t need the new gaming device. All he needs is his family and friends. Maybe he wants all of that but he doesn’t complain and beg for it everyday. Think about it do you need every thing you have? when you have on  playdates what do you do, play the wii, watch youtube and play on electronics? Well if so why don’t you go outside, talk or run around? Think about how fortunate you are.
