7th Grade Learning Habits-Tess

The learning habit that I had chosen was initiative. I have been working on improving this skill. This is a challenge for me. It used to be that my parents would constantly be telling me to do my homework or to do a better job on it. But lately, I have been working really hard on taking the initiative to do things on my own. I am making time to do homework, even if it means spending a lot of time on it. I am focusing really hard on it. I am doing things without my parents telling me to and I am being more independent with my schoolwork.

A learning habit that I need to work on is attention to detail, and more specifically, organization. This is a very big problem for me. I am often being careless with paper, losing papers, and getting them crumpled up. This is something that I really want to work on. Sometimes this can lead to me forgetting homework, which is not an option. I want to get new plastic folders, ones that don’t fall apart, and place papers in the right folders.

2017-2018 Learning Value

The learning value that I chose this year is initiative. This is important to me because I think I an really improve in this. I can work really hard because it is one of my biggest challenges in school. I chose this because I think it is a very important skill to have. To be able to take the initiative to do things without being told, and doing your best work is very important. It can help me do good work, and not have to be constantly told to do things. I will raise my hand, make sure to study as much as I can so I can really improve. I will always take the initiative to copy down whatever is on the board. Although all of this is sometimes a challenge for me, I think if I work on it hard enough, I can be a better student.

I have a question

What would happen if all humans disappeared?

Here are some things I think about that:

If all humans disappeared, and animals survived the disasters, then maybe animals would be at the top of the food chain. They might be like humans. But, there is something about that that might not work. Not all animals can just survive on plants. Predators eat meat. If predators have all the acesses to meat they want, like bunnies or, deer. So, in the end, maybe only predators would survive, and they can eat each otherTORP7cj

Orangutans going extinct

Will This Palm Oil Alternative Save Orangutans From Extinction?

By Kim Bussing on February 17, 2016 Sumatran_Orangutan_8.6.2012_Why_They_Matter3_HI_255230

This is a picture of an orangutan… But it won’t be like that for long.

This orangutan’s habitat is being destroyed. This is happening because people are cutting down the trees the Orangutans live in for palm oil. Orangutans are becoming extinct. This rule would be everything is connected. When you cut down a tree you are not only cutting down a tree, but you are destroying a habitat for an animal. This is not an example of following the rules. My suggestion is finding an Alternative. And there is an alternative. It is: a yeast that grows on leaves, fruits, and flowers. The yeast eats the sugars from the biomass and turns it into a thick oil that has almost identical qualities to palm oil. A team of researchers from England’s University of Bath and University of York figured this out.

Exit Polling

Hello! In class we were learning about the debate. So, we went outside and did exit polling. We asked people questions about their vote. Some people were nice. Some people were rude. I really liked being a poller because I like talking to people and it was very fun seeing the different votes people had. Some people would just walk away from us. That was pretty frustrating. But overall, I had a great time exit polling!

Everything is Connected

To me, “Everything is Connected” means we all need everything, and take care of everything to survive. Everything is connected in the sense that plants, animals etc give us things that we need to survive. They have things that help us and we have things that help them. An example is plants NEED Co2 and they produce Oxygen and humans need to breath Oxygen and humans breath out Co2.

Ushabti

In art this year we made Ushabtis. Those are worker dolls that we put in tombs. They would come alive and work in the afterlife. I made a blue one. It had Hieroglyphics painted on.

Canopic Jars

In art, we made Canopic Jars. Canopic Jars were what Egyptians used during the mummification process. When they took the organs out of the person, they put it in they Canopic jar. I made one that looked like a Jackal.

Tomb Painting

For the Egyptian tomb we made paintings of Egypt. We could choose a drawing that was already made and copy it. We would hang them up in the tomb. I drew a warrior with a tiger. One thing that I liked about my painting was the warrior I drew. One thing I did not like about my painting is that the tiger that I drew looked like a kitty cat.
