i hate blog.lrei.org this is so pointless. Why are we doing this. I really dont understand. I’m not going to look back at this ever again. This does not gain anything. This the worst thing we do every tuesday and it ruin’s my day. I come in happy and then I’m torn. Becuase this is so bad.
Over the weekend I went skateboarding and played basketball. It was a fun weekend and I hung out with my friends.
On spring break for the first week, I went to Peru with my Spanish class. We went to the airport early to catch our flight. We flew to Houston which was 3-4 hour flight then had a 3-hour layover there. From Houston, we boarded our flight to Lima the city in Peru which was about 7 hours. We landed at 12:30 am Peruvian time which is 1:30 am New York time so we were pretty tired. We didn’t leave the airport for a while because one of the students could not find her bag. Then we had to go through customs. We got onto a bus and started to head to our hotel. We got our rooms and went up. I was with my friend Miles. We did a lot on the trip so I’m not going to say every detail. We spent two days in Lima then flew to Cusco the city in the mountains. Then took a train to Machu Picchu then went back to Cusco, flew back to Lima and spent the rest of the trip there. Over the trip, we did many things. We learned about the Incas and their culture, visited lots of markets which were very interesting. We went to the beach, visited a school, and did some community service. Overall it was a very fun trip.
Last week we had the social justice teach in. My group was the gun control group. We educated students on our topic and they learned about the 2nd andmenmeant and background checks. The students participated in a debate on whether people should have the right to bear arms. It was a really great experience and very fun.
On January 20th I went to the Rich the Kid with 4 of my friends it was so much fun. I really liked it because Rich the Kid is one of my favorite artists so that made it really fun. We were in the pit and it was so much fun we were jumping up and down and at one point it opened up and there was a huge circle. Overall it was very fun.
In art class we just finished our finger print drawing where you would draw your thumb print using ink and then go over it with water color. Now we are working on our personal project where you pick a style of art or type of art then try to make it. My artist is Barbara Kruger and I’m working with illustrator on the computer to work on my project.
A Wrinkle in Time, By Madeline L’Engle, is a fiction book about a girl named Meg whose father left for a business trip and never came back. Meg, her brother, Charles Wallace, her friend Calvin and three older women go on a quest to find him. The journey takes them from a small town in what seems like a European country to a another planet. It’s not clear when this story takes place. My favorite character in the book was Mrs. Whaist, one of the older women, because she was extremely wise and helped the children with their journey and become more mature. The character I related to the most was Calvin because he was easy going. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure stories, fiction and science.
Fugitive Landlord And His Men Kill Young Man Named Hamir
Breaking News! Recently in Yazman, a young man named Hamir was killed by his landlord, Nazir Mohammad. We have interviewed Hamir’s mother and younger brother and the family that he was betrothed to.
The story is that Nazir Mohammad and his men saw Phulan and Shabanu and tried to take them. They were said to throw water pots at them to fend them off. Onlookers reported that this made Nazir Mohammad very angry. Shabanu and Phulan then ran for their lives, and talked to their mother.
Quickly, the family left in anxiety. Only Dalil Abassi stayed back. When they told the story to Hamir, he quickly became angry that Nazir Mohammad had dared to insult the girl he was betrothed to. He took to violence. Then Nazir and his men came in a jeep. Nazir was drunk, when he saw Hamir he told his men to shoot him. When Hamir was down a few seconds later, they shot him down once more. Murad and Abassi carried his body back to the hut. There they met Bibi Lal who was crying. She was inside the hut while it happened and she said she heard the gun shots. The men splashed water on Hamir but it would not work. They took off their turbans and wiped the blood of him. Behind them they heard Nazir’s jeep driving away. All of them knew they could not do anything. They knew Hamir was dead.
Dalil Abbasi and Murad carried the body back to Hamir’s hut. His mother, Bibi-Lal was devastated. What a terrible turn of events, here in Yazman. Rangers are keeping an eye out for Nazir Mohammad and his posse.
In art we are making a geometrical pattern. We make new shapes out of the ones that are already there. After we fill out the sheet we cut out the shapes and put it on a different sheet.
During Ashokan we did many activities that involved the outdoors such as the rope course[picture below] gorge hike and many more. While we doing these activities I have learned many things for example during survival class I learned how to make a shelter and when we did blacksmith I learned how to make a fire poker. It was very different from last year because there was a lot of different activities and it was a lot more fun.
