Science Journal

This is my science journal. It is important because it is where I do a lot of my science homework.  I am proud of it because I have done a lot of hard work in the journal itself. For my first entry in my science journal I recorded what was in my daily meals, and showed which components of the dish were producers, consumers, or abiotic. In my second entry I did my writing for my assignment about the article talking about bringing nature back into our cities. I had to paraphrase four examples of bringing nature back into our cities from the article, and explain why they do so.

Science Nature and Cities Check In

I am very proud of my Science Nature and Cities Check In because I felt like I portrayed all that I have learned about the Science curriculum so far. I feel like I did well on it, seeing that I specifically studied the individual things that I thought were going to be on the check in. I felt like I did really hard and good work in the check in, and I feel like my grade reflected that.

Interconnectedness Of Human Body Systems

In science today we had a quiz where we had to make a bubble map of the different human body systems and show how they connect. I feel that after doing this activity I have a deeper understanding of the connective qualities of the systems. I think that I did well on the quiz. I met the requirements, which is two arrows per system, and I went above and beyond with another separate project that I decided to do since I was finished with my first. I was trying to come up with something to do and then BAM! I decided to create a human diagram of the circulatory system, since I found that that system was the most connective and interesting. I explained why arteries are red and veins are blue, and I had fun with it. I thought that this quiz in general was just entertaining for me and I would definitely do it again if I had the chance.

Muscle System – Structure fits Function

Do you ever wonder how the heart does all those things fir your body? Do you ever wonder if the shape of you heart changes what it does? If your heart was shaped differently would it still do the same things or would it have different functions?

The heart is a muscle. The function of the heart is to pump blood and circulate it through the body. The structure helps the function because the heart is round so the veins that spread can go at any angle and any part of the body. Another reason is that it’s good that the heart is more at the top of your body than the bottom because it’s probably easier for blood to travel down than up. The heart is small so it is hard for it to be punctured and there are valves on the heart that make it easier to make blood flow through your body.

The heart is helpful to the brain because the brain needs a lot of blood and the heart is very close to the brain.

Operation Manual

IMG_20150414_085638930

This is a food pyramid. It is part of one of my first pages of my operation manual. It goes from the most powerful species to the least powerful species. Zoom in for more details. The overall idea I am trying to convey on this page is that if you take too much or too little, everybody will suffer and the food economy system will crash. This is one of the many ideas to my operation manual of earth. It will teach people (and aliens) how to survive and thrive on earth, without everything going wrong. They are basically life lessons and scientific theories about what to do on earth to survive.
