Middle School Walk Out

Our group organized a walkout about gun control in response to the Parkland, Florida shooting. A walkout is when students (and sometimes faculty) leave school to protest something. This walkout was for the gun violence that’s been happening in our country for the past few years. Walkouts are really important because they show that we won’t be silent when there’s injustice. We have to stand up for what we believe in if we want anything to change. Not only were we protesting, but we were honoring those whose lives have been lost to gun violence. This walkout taught me so much about being an activist. Organizing it and getting such a large group of people took a lot of work and I got a sense of what activists do. It felt really great to make a difference and take a stand. That’s what we have to do to make change. Organizing the walkout was a great experience for me, and when the opportunity comes to do something similar in the future, I will definitely take it.

China Trip Reflection

The 2018 China Trip was a great experience. While it was very memorable, partially for the wrong reasons, it was still a very positive time. I really liked going down the bund in ShangHai. It was really great because you could see the entire city pretty much. Both sides were completely different. One side looked really modern with skyscrapers and the pearl tower which is incredibly unique. The other side looked a lot older and buildings that I’m more accustomed to. Shanghai was definitely my favorite of the cities, probably because it reminded me the most of New York.
