The Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume

If you’re in fourth grade, most of you are, I would recommend this Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing by Judy Blume to all of you. I personally didn’t want to read this book but my dad talked me into it and as soon as I read the first chapter I couldn’t stop. Another thing this book has in common is I think we all live in NYC just like Peter the main character in this book and his little brother Fudge. Unknown-1Peter is a BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, BIG, people pleaser. An example of this would be when the dad of  Peter and Fudge has some guests staying at there house. Each bring both Peter and Fudge presents and though Peter despises his present he tries to please the guests by using his “amazing” acting skills. Peter is also as an impatient kid and a kid who takes things too literally.

The whole book is based around fact that Fudge has some spite to him and adults only get to see the angle side of him. For example Peter’s first pet passed away because Fudge swallowed him whole which lead to Peter getting a dog. In this story Fudge goes to the hospital for the reason listed above. That is a really important event in the story because right when Peter starts to get the slightest bit of attention Fudge has to pick the pet up and swallow it whole, that of course l leads to Fudge getting more attention not intentionally like always.

I enjoyed this book because I can relate to two things with the main character, we are both in 4th grade, and we both have parents who always assume that the little sibling is an angel and  rarely gets in trouble. My favorite quote in the whole book would be when the mom said “ we have to trick Fudge if we want him to stop whining so this is the plan…” I like this quote because normally in this story everyone is always on Fudges side of things and this quote changes things up a bit. I would recommend this book to everyone because this book isn’t a book that is only interesting to the people who like that genre, but it is one of books like Wonder where it is a funny and interesting book for everyone. I would rate this book 4****and a half out of 5*****

Dork Diaries (1), By Rachel Renée Russell

The book Dork Diaries is 91diEjm-uGL._SL1500_about a girl named Nikki and her adventure in middle school. Nikki is at a new school and has no friends. What Nikki really wants it to hang out with the CCP (Cute, Cool, and Popular) group. Unlucky for her, she has a locker next to most popular girl in school, Mackenzie. Mackenzie is very full of herself. She says mean things about every girl’s fashion. (Of course not her best friends.)

I really liked the book because it I can relate to Nikki in the sense that we are both girls and we both girls who go to school. I am kind of learning from her because she is already in middle school and I am going into middle school. My favorite part of the book is when Nikki finally kind of gets the guy. I liked that because I felt happy for her. My least favorite part of the book is when Mackenzie’s friend tripped Nikki in the lunch room. I didn’t like that because it was mean.

At the end of the book Nikki writes in her diary I’m such a dork! That tells me that even at the end of the book she still thinks of herself of a dork. I don’t think she should think about the bad things about herself, I think she should think about the good things. She said “ Hi, Mrs. Wallabanger. I just stopped by to ask if you lost your hearing aid?” Page. 122 That quote tells me that Nikki is a kind person who cares about what someone has lost. I would recommend this book to someone who likes a good realistic fiction book. I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Jake and Lily By Jerry Spanelli

Jake And Lily

This is a book about Jake and Lily. They are twins who really love each other. They are really good friends but they are twins. They are both sort of adventurous Lily is a tough girl, jake is a not so much of a tough boy. The book takes place mostly in the club hideout and on the street.

They have a secret about them. Which I won’t say( READ TO FIND OUT.) And when there poppy comes in town to live near them they spill everything. They are the bestest of twins until Bump Stubbins comes along and ruins everything. Jake meets new friends and leaves Lily for bloobers (Insanely weird people.) “ Jake hates me” Lily will say along the way.

I would rate this book ***** 5 stars. It is my second favorite book EVER! You should really read it. I would recommend it to people who like realistic Fiction. And if you like sibling books, ( books about siblings.) How will they get back together as twins? Read to find out.

READ IT!

Girls acting Catty

Girls Acting Catty

by Leslie Margolis

I read this book called Girls Acting Catty it’s by Leslie Margolis. The main character is a girl named Annabelle. Annabelle is a really sweet girl, who has trouble dealing with change. For example when Annabelle moves away and starts going to a new school and making new friends she has a tough time dealing with all the change .  Also before she moved she went to an all girls school and now she goes to a school with boys and she realizes that trying to run away from your problems just makes things worse. In this story Annabelle’s mom gets married so Annabelle welcomes a new dad and brother into the family. She has friendship problems like all girls do. The setting is in Westlake.

For Annabelle growing up isn’t that easy she gets teased a lot and when her brother moves in with her and she realizes that she has a crush on him everything changes. Also in the book she loses her friends, and also her mom gets married for the first time so now Annabelle has a dad and a brother and that is a big change for her because she only had a mom and now she has to welcome 2 new people to the family. In the book after Annabelle had lost her friends she said “With no dog and no friends, I was the loneliest loner in town”.

I really liked this book because it’s well written and the main character Annabelle  is like a lot of kids and sometimes it feels good to read something about a character who is like you and knowing that they went through the same problems as you even if they are just made up people. I would recommend this book to people who are getting bullied, or who have friendship problems, to people who are sensitive, and to people who have very tender hearts. Annabelle is all of those things and it feels good to relate to a character in a book you’re reading. I would rate this book five out of five stars. *****

The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan

WARNING!!!! DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW UNLESS YOU ARE NOT PLANNING TO READ THE OLYMPIANS SERIES OR ARE ON THE FIRST OR SECOND BOOK!!!!

imgresThe Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan is in my favorite series of all time, The Olympians Series! The main characters are: Percy Jackson son of Poseidon, Grover Underwood the satyr, Annabeth Chase daughter of Athena, Thalia Grace daughter of Zeus, and Bianca and Nico di Angelo. The setting is Camp Half Blood. And everywhere they go on the quest.

Percy is in the car with Annabeth and Thalia, and of course his mom is telling embarrassing stories from when he was a baby. Anyway, Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia are on their way to a military school called Westover Hall because Grover told them that he found two half-bloods. (Half Greek God half human). When Percy finally finds the two di Angelo kids, they are gone and so are his friends.

My favorite part of the book is when Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, Grover, and Zöe are a the Hoover Dam and Percy, Annabeth, Thalia, and Grover are saying, “ I’m going to buy some Dam french fries. And I’m going to use the Dam bathroom! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!” And Zöe talks in thou thee language and she doesn’t get it.

To find out what happens next, READ THE BOOK!!!! I  DARE YOU!!!!(I recommend reading the first and second book before this…)

I recommend this book to people who like to get sucked into books, magical realism, realistic fiction, action, and adventure. I rate this book (100 stars)  but I can only do  so that will do.

Cabin Fever Diary of the Wimpy Kid By Jeff Kinney

UnknownAs you know, if you read my book reviews, that I like the Wimpy Kid books. So I think that this is a great book to read if you want a bit of humor in your reading. The pictures in this book are great too. This book is all about the holidays. It is about a kid named Greg and he is bored when it comes to Christmas. He is always tempted to open the presents before Christmas when they are under the tree, but now they have a new toy that watches them, well, that’s what everyone in the house thinks because it is creepy. Greg also has weird thoughts like when he felt bad for Jesus because he probably got fewer presents. He lives in a small town.      Gregs whole family gets trapped in their house because there is a blizzard, well not the whole family. The dad was at work when the blizzard hit. So he got to stay at a lovely hotel with TVs, hot tubs and amazing foods while the rest of the family had to suffer with a flood, barely any food and no heat. I would rate this book four stars because I have liked some other books in the series a little bit more than this one. If you think some of the details are not there look at the other book reviews that I have posted.

Justin Case, Rachel Vail

Justin Case is a great book all about school drama, life drama, and realistic stuff that you and me would go through.

It is about a boy named Justin who is scared of being in school this year. His teacher starts giving challenges of who can have the nicest behavior. He gets so fed up he wants to move away. Follow along as he talks about this year.

I like this book because it is in a diary format and it is a quick paced kind of book. For example 50 days could go by in 25 pages and you would be not stopping a single bit.

I love this book because this character is always worried about the future and never focused on right now. He always gets scared and is again just so worried about everything, thats why they call him Justin Case.

I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5 because of all the good writing and plot.

Please read this book because it is FANTASTIC

Hazardous Tales By Nathon Hale

STK467245

Hazardous Tales by Nathan Hale which is funny because there was a spy named Nathan Hale in The Revolutionary War who is the main character in this book. It is about Nathan Hale ( the spy) who is about to be hanged on something called a gallows and the stories he tells to the hangman and a redcoat (English soldiers named after their red coats). It takes place in an English territory in 1779 during the American Revolution.

Nathan Hales one problem is that he has but one life to give for his country. ( A Nathan hale quote ” My only regret is that I have but one life to give for my country” ). This book is about the entire revolution two main parts are when Nathan becomes the spy and when he gets slammed in The Big Giant Book of American History. It is very interesting because pretty much everything is true.

I would recommend this book to someone who likes humor and wars because it is about a war.If you like to learn while you are reading you should read it. I give it five out of five stars. *****I because of all the positive things I said in this review.

Lawnboy, by Gary Paulsen

UnknownLawnboy, is a really good book by Gary Paulsen. Gary Paulsen has some other good books too. The main character is Lawner (It never says his name, I’m just going to call him Lawner because he mows lawns.) Lawner is very poor, and nice. He doesn’t have enough money for a inner tube for his bike, and can’t even buy one. That’s how poor he is. The setting of the book is Summer, and around modern time, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. It is a middle-class town.

Like I said, Lawner doesn’t have enough money for a inner tube for his bike. On his 12th birthday, he got an old riding mower (A lawn mower that you sit on, and it’s just like a tractor). Read the book to see what he gets into with the mower. On pg. 4 it says, “A mower?” Lawner seemed surprised by his present, but that’s why it made it a good part. Also, Lawners’ life is different with the mower, so if you compare that to the end of the book after you’re done reading it, it’s pretty cool.

I really enjoyed the book because it is very funny (if you look on pg 3). For example, Lawner’s Grandma is very strange. If you asked her, “You know, I think the Yankees will win the World Series again.” She might reply, “Yes, but it’s still nice to put carrots in the stew for flavor.” But, everybody knows, that the Mets are gonna win the World Series with David Wright and Matt Harvey. The book also teaches you about the stock market (which is VERY complicated), and investing. I would recommend the book to people who are 8-15 year olds because if you are under 8, you would not understand, and if you are older, you wouldn’t be interested. I would rate the book 4-out-of 5 stars.
