The Doll Shop Downstairs

by Jemma Fox

*****

My book is called The Doll Shop Downstairs. It was a very good book. I would recommend the book to people who like not a lot of adventure but a big problem with many obstacles. I would rate this book 4 stars out of 5. One of my favorite parts is is when they go to FAO schwarz. The book is about a girl named Anna whose family owns a doll shop. The doll shop has been in the family for many generations. The Anna needs to help the shop. Do you want to Know why? Well to bad! You just have to read the book to find out!

Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo

Because of Winn-Dixie is an amazing book by Kate DiCamillo.  Opal, a 10 year old girl is the main character and owns Winn-Dixie.  Winn-Dixie is a dog, who Opal found in a grocery store.  It takes place in a town in Florida called Naomi. One important thing is when Opal finds Winn- Dixie.  It is important because Winn-Dixie made it so that Opal got friends.  Another important thing is when Winn-Dixie runs into Gloria Dump’s yard, which lets Opal meet her first friend.

My favorite part of the book was when Opal starts working at the Gertrude’s Pets, because it is very funny.  It is funny because Gertrude the parrot keeps on screeching,“dog!”

I recommend the book to ages 8 and older.  I would rate it 5 stars.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio

I read a book I really liked called Wonder by R.J. Palacio. The book is about a boy who had a different face from everyone else and his name is August. In the story he gets hearing aids and he has never gone to school before except in fifth grade he started school before that he was home schooled. Later on in the book August’s pet named Daisy dies and that is a real crusher for him and his family let alone  his other problems. August has an older sister named Via who is fourteen and just started high school. Via’s first name is Olivia. When broke up with her old best friends Miranda and Ella and got her first boyfriend Justin, August and Via had to go through those changes together. I really enjoyed Wonder because the book is not true but it could happen and it’s funny and a great book for nine or ten year olds. Out of five stars I would rate this book four and a half stars.
