This week it feels like I have spent more time reading and watching videos than I have in the past few weeks. Though falling into an endless spiral of watching TED Talks may seem less productive than making progress in my online course, it has definitely allowed me to explore topics that I am interested in an engaging way that allows my mind to wander. I love listening to how learning about the brain has helped people learn more about themselves or the world around them. I guess it has also helped me develop productive routines on how to go about my day as a researcher.
It has definitely gotten more difficult for me to concentrate and stay motivated during these times, but I’ve been trying my best. I’ve picked up painting again, which has really been therapeutic while listening to lectures or silly crash course videos. I have also started this new routine of reading a neuro/psych/baby article or two every morning in bed. Though it’s not much and I’m still in my PJs, it has allowed me to feel more productive first thing in the morning. I’m a morning person, so I have a bit more willpower and it gives me something to think about throughout the day, which also helped me in brainstorming what I should do for my final presentation. I am nearing the end of my course and I anticipate to finish it by the start of next week.
