When originally making the video I had not known the meaning or message behind it. After the shoot, Reggi realized how he had portrayed himself in an inaccurate way and was dissatisfied. On our second shoot, we took to a drastic approach that was very different from our first shoot, one that was more mellow, less flamboyant, and more serious. A few days later he told me the meaning of the song and I fully understood what he did not like about our first shoot. If he had told me before I would have interpreted the making of my shots much more different and accurately to how he envisioned but with my own aesthetic and style of filmmaking. Because of not keeping a consistent portrayal of Reggi throughout each shoot day there is a noticeable feeling when watching the first half to the second. Both mentally and visually you see a change in his demeanor, shot selection, and general vibe. This accidental “mistake” resulting from a misunderstanding in the interpretation of his song, led to a music video with two chapters and a stark contrast halfway through the film. Ultimately I am happy with how the video turned out and it will hopefully be released soon.
