4/8/20 – Today I got the chance to talk to Geoff Ogunlesi, who is A&R for Young Thug, Gunna, and the rest of Thug’s YSL label. I got to talk to him as a part of “Class of 300” which is a meeting that occurs twice a week where executives from the company speak to the interns about their path to where they are now and answer any questions. He said he treats his clients quite literally as family and has an extremely close relationship with each of his artists. He said that what he looks for in an artist is longevity and that they’re different, but at the same time true to themselves. In other words, he doesn’t want artists that wear crazy clothes just because they saw that was the cool thing to do.
