Today Shai and I visited all of the locations. There are seven in total. Again, I was struck by the community. Every location we visited, Shai knew everyone there and they seemed to like him as well. However, driving to all these locations is a lot of time in a car with Shai. I got to learn a little more about him. He along with 6 other people manages all of Westville. All of them are Israeli. In the car, Shai told me that everyone in Israel must join the military. The way he described being in the military sounded bleak and terrifying. Since Israel is at war frequently, it is almost a guarantee you will be deployed. It was interesting to hear this. One never really knows what someone has been through. This made me realize how lucky I am to not be required to join the military with a guaranteed deployment. The restaurant business is very interesting. It attracts and draws in many different types of people and creates a very diverse community.
