For the first week of my project, I spent most of my time reading Beloved by Toni Morrison and researching artists to inform my art. I found many artists and am in the process of developing plans for the pieces I want to create.  Some of these artists include Alice Neal, Jennifer Packer, Alberto Del Pozo, and Mati Klarwein.

My pieces will mostly be full figure portraits like the images included as well as a few landscapes to establish the setting.

Coming into the project I was worried about telling the story but after my cohort meetings, I’ve expanded my possibilities taken a more interpretive approach. I am also in the process of setting up my workspace to be compatible with the art I am doing and to ensure my days are productive.
