Elisabeth Project Proposal: Science of Cooking

Name: Elisabeth

Project Name: The Science of Cooking

Essential Question: What is the science behind cooking?

Statement of Definition: For my senior project I will research various recipes to attempt while documenting both the process of baking/cooking the recipe and explaining the science behind the particular recipe.

Overview:

For my project I will be spending my time either cooking/baking or researching in preparation to cook/bake. This project appeals to me because it is a way to both further my cooking/baking skills as well as easily explore science at home. I plan to make at least one dish a week, but depending on how much time I find is necessary for research and preparation it could be more or less. I will also be taking an online class from EdX called Science & Cooking. In order to measure the success of my project I would reflect on how much more knowledge I have on why recipes work the way they do, as well as reflecting on my documentation. A challenge with my project is gathering ingredients, as groceries are only delivered 1-2 times a week, so I will need to be able to plan very far in advance.
